well i agree, but norris's resume is a stronger in achievement than vargas. vargas got a great start with that campas win. but he seemed to lose it all and never regain it. also even tho vargas was finished early. remember so was terry. he was showing signs of aging when he was 28 due to what they think was/is pugdem. his fight with boudouani is of terry fumbling foreward trying to hit a stationary target. a guy who would of been beaten easily in norris's prime. where as vargas ate his way out of contention norris had serious problems hand to eye cordination later in his career. his last 3 fights are sad to watch. gatti wont be in the hall of fame, nor will ward or augustus, nor will jermain taylor, or tarver....that doesnt mean they are not great fighters and should be remembered for it. comparing norris to vargas actually offends me in a wiered sort of way.
borderline...but i like his chances over judah it depends on the timing of his nomination. Most likely, Only ATGs got inducted in their first year of eligibility
**** no! if you let him in then why not let another roider Tommy Morrison in atschVargas was a legend in his own whacked head, he got KTFO in his biggest fights against TITO-OSCAR, AND SHANE, and was spanked in his encore against Mayorga:-(.. The HOF is supposed to be for the best of the best Vargas is short...
McGuigan being in there to me really lowered the bar big time. Rosario is like Vargas he beat alot of really good guys and probablly lost to the best opponets he faced so agian if hes in why not Vargas.
I don't think he gets in. His biggest wins are against Wright and Quartey, and Wright was not a win when Winky was fighting great -so it was questionable. And Quartey was overrated. Quartey is not seen as a great HOF fighter. I would say no. I wish we could put all boxers in there because it is such a tough sport and they all deserve credit, but to honest, the HOF is for that elite group and I do not think Vargas or for that matter Vernon Forrest get in. I wish they could because they worked so hard and were a credit to boxing, but if you look objectively I am not sure their careers warrant it. That is not an insult on them at all. It just means that when I think a fighter deserves to be HOF then they really earned it with quality wins against the top fighters and consistent wins and showings.
I was more impressed with Rosario than Vargas. Rosario wiped out Bramble in September of 1986 when Livingstone was number 4 p4p in the world. Edwin gave Hector Camacho a great fight and had that war with Ramirez after first beating Ramirez. And he won 3 titles in 2 divisions. His power was impressive also.
such a shame, if he was properly managed he could of got like 50 wins before getting his first loss. he is used as the example as to why prospects arent rushed and top talent guys dont risk their 0 to preserve legacy,
i dunno. i think his eating habits was his career waster....ricky hatton is a big eater WAIT a sec:shock:
