Is fighting on Home soil a huge advantage?

Kesslers only losses have been on the road...Froch also Hatton,

Americans seem to get beat when they venture outside US....Gerrald Mcllelan etc

Would have been Interesting to see Hatton Mayweather in Manchester with Dave Paris the referee....lol

I think it is massive factor...crowd reacts to punches, helps motivate the fighter as well as fighting on home promoters show.

....EG...Does anyone think Kesser would have beat Froch in Nottingham?

I think HUGE advantage is a little bit exaggerated, but it's at least a BIG advantage.

It can be, especially if your fans chant like the typical Brits. It would drive me on a bit, but you're only as good as the skills you possess.

Winning in Germany seems hard. They dont treat outsiders nicely in the ring.

    True, but that's the same for;

    GB
    Australia
    The US
    Italy (!)
    and probably many more countries.

think about your poll option. You go from HUGE ADVANTAGE to MAKES NO DIFFERENCE

This is typical ESB, no grey zone. You're either black or white.

I think that home advantage is an advantage in every single sports, but it's not a HUGE advantage. It's a significant one.

not only the crowd is against you, but the judges are and the ref i think.in some parts of the world you will have to ko a fighter to win because you want win in there own backyards.ok well maybe a shut out will due as well.

i aways thought the brits were on some bs in the froch dirrell fight, yeah dirrell was moving but the holding and hitting and slaming had to go.the miranda vs king arthur was some home cooking in germany in that dq loss edison lost.evander holyfield was denied history is russia when he clearly beat the giant.and i go on and on and on !!

winky wright fought outside the country alot a won.eddie chambers dominated a fight i think in russia a won.oh yeah and ward only fighting in oakland has got to go, im just looking for a reason to hate on him and hes giving it to me big time.i dont like hometown **** at all.

Its only an advantage up until the fighter's introduction and sometimes in the scorecards.

    When did this happen?
Abraham vs Miranda I > AA by UD with a broken jaw, what could have been stopped.
Abraham vs Miranda II > AA by TKO, dominating.

    So...
Abraham vs Miranda III > AA wins by DQ? :huh

every team in every single sport has a better historical record at home than away.

It's stupid to think that boxing is some kind of exception. It's not just the judges and refs, being at home is an advantage.

I would like to add that in some instances being at home is a disadvantage especially with fighters that can't control their emotions and try to please the crowd.

Indeed, only in boxing the difference seems to be bigger than in other sports because there is a big chance of a jury decision.
In football you can have the public and the referee against you, but the team that scores the most goals wins. In boxing the away fighter that can overcome those factors still has to hope the judges are legit when it comes to a decision... What we know is certainly not always the case.
