a great accomplishment, or is it just like getting a pay raise at your regular job :huh

oscar has one of the most controversial careers, but because he has a great resume, i think people rate wins over him way too high...
IMO, the only ones that can brag about whooping him are shane, and just now pac.....shane because he really put it on oscar when oscar was untouchable (though he had some controversial fights already)...and pac, cause pac completely ****en dominated a man that just recently had a really controversial loss to one of the best of our era, FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR, and he made oscar quit.......

not to mention, he's never really been in a great fight or FOTY CANDIDATE, which i know really dont mean ****, but it does add some sauce to your legacy (please dont bring up the quartey fight, only 2 rounds were exciting :yep)

i know he has some good wins, but is that really enough :huh

just wanna see what you guys think :good

MOney and LEgacy wise... Yes its a big gain. Having a W against Oscar is a great accomplishment for America to notice.

It definitely puts you on the radar screen and I guess he was a gatekeeper for world-class recognition.

I think the only person who holds a proper win over a great version of Oscar, is Mosley.

Tito got a gift against him, Hopkins is now a light-heavyweight and he was fighting against a former Lightweight - who had literally done nothing at middleweight other than lose to Sturm. Mayweather was the P4P king fighting a guy ten years past his best, and Pacquaio beat an elderly, inactive, weight drained corpse.

A great win for Pac, no doubt about it. But that was the worst version of Oscar we will ever see in the ring.

he said a proper win over a "great version" of de la hoya. and i agree with both previous statements regarding mosley and pac.

i think it's both a great accomplishment and a fat pay raise for anyone able to fight/beat him.

Nah I don't think Manny is a hero of that night. Well if it terms of actually beating Oscar for the most damn waste of money PPV he made us pay for the Dream Match... kinda true dude, kinda true.

Oscar vs Shane was a great FOTY candidate. Oscar vs Quartey was a great fight too... as was Oscar vs Vargas. I think that you are really downplaying Oscar's success.

Not downplaying his success. But he is overrated, about as bad as Wlad and Bernard.

Yeah, Oscar-Mosley 1 was great, as was the Quartey fight, in fact round 12 of that was one of my all time favourite rounds, and showed exactly what an excellent fighter Oscar was at the time, as you say; Vargas was a great fight, so was Mayorga, or go further back to Oscar's fight with Gonzalez as well.
