IS Floyd Jr fighting for the love of the sport or money?

Really... Hes doing for the love of the sport cause it makes him lots of money and hes good at it.

 

Money. Plain and simple.

 

Floyd wouldn't be where he is at today if it wasn't love for both the sport and the money. If it was just the money, he would make plenty off his promotion company, endorsements, and cameos for steady income. If he managed it right he should be set for life, regardless of the IRS or not.

What I think people don't get is that boxing is about glory; he has a big ego and loves being in the spotlight. For many boxers, money is the prize to show your worth, for others it's all about the belt or records. If Mayweather didn't love the sport he wouldn't know nearly as much about the sport as he does, or would have kept dedicated in his shape even after "retiring".

Regardless of all the glory, at the end of the day, boxing is a business and fighters should be making the best business decisions that they can with the least amount of risk. That you can blame on capitalism my friends, haha. I can respect Mayweather the businessman, but it doesn't tell me much about how he ranks as an ATG. At the end of the day, ATG doesn't mean much because it's a fantasy. Do you think Mayweather or DLH are thinking (Man, I hope everyone thinks I can take on Hagler, or will I be ranked above SRR on an ATG list?)

Boxers a fighting with the real time decisions: family, friends, money, house, etc. and fans in the sense that they need them to come out and help them make dollars. If fans want more competitive fights and less ducking the sport needs to be changed structurally (Ex: One tournament a year, one title).

Truthfully its mostly about money with him we all know this.

It's obviously both. If the question was what motivates Floyd more, love or money? Than look no further than his moniker. But to say it's all about money and that he has no love for the sport would be ludicrous. If you're that good at something, there is no way that you lack passion for it.

 

i think both, mayweather obviously likes bucks but if anyone claims he isn't fighting for pride and honor are just not very realistic. i don't care what mayweather says, look at his reaction when he wins a fight and tell me its just for the money.

 

No doubt he loves boxing as a sport but you make him choose between his legacy and $100 Mil..he'll take the money. Other fighters who have made good money and a comfortable lifestyle in this sport would choose the legacy if given the choice b/c they'd rather be remembered as one of the best to ever do it.

He's clearly Boxing because of financial difficulty! If you log onto ***********.comm you wil see a report on Floyd & the IRS reaching an agreement. A levy has been put out on Floyd's purse for the bout against Marquez, & an amount of $5M has been agreed!

I have no doubts Floyd will be out of debt with the IRS pretty soon, but what's highly alarming is where has all his money gone? Floyd has always claimed he's a businessman, has good & trustworthy people around him, but you have to wonder?

As good & as skilled as he is, whatever money he now makes from this point on , he better look after it carefully, because he's 33 in February. He not a youngster anymore & there will come a time when he can't make a comeback!

 

No offense to his fans. To me Floyd Mayweather only cares about himself and his money! I will admit that he is a very very good boxer but he is nothing but a loud mouth. In my opinion, the only reason that he came back is because of his debt problems if he had no debt problems he most probably won't come back.

I can't deny that he loves boxing. He may have left but he still goes to the gym to train. His work ethic is world class.
