he would have outclassed people in every era...... these list are based on a bunch of intangible bull****...bottom line who is the most skilled person in the art form (the art of hitting and not getting hit) and its undoubtedly floyd mayweather... all this well he fought him who beat him who had one eye at the time and was coming off of a fight last week in which his jaw got broke but he showed heart and won.. is bull****.... Mayweather is a better fighter than at least 40 of you or whoever elses top 50
when he beats pac easily people will have a new bloke that should be more challenging for him...and so on and so on.....this **** never ends... i bet if cotto beats foreman and may beats pac people will start asking for may to fight cotto
gunns4hire is absolutely correct with that statement first pac then cotto and williams is what they are gonna say next
thats cool but a lot of the pre 80's fighters are overrated.... if this was the 1920's paul williams, kermit cintron and miguel cotto would be considered future all time greats
Not at welterweight and maybe not at jr. welterweight, and he would have his hands full at lightweight and jr.lightweight,he's just barely outside of my top 30,and he needs to beat Pac to get in,but it wont vault him to the top 20 a win over pac and williams would.Hopkins is in my top 30 and Jones outside with no chance of getting in.
Cintron would never be a ATG in any era,you need heart and desire its something the 90's to present fighters lack compared to the other eras except for a select few of course.
i don't really see an argument for putting him there. he hasn't really made a splash in any weight class besides 130. he's very insignificant compared to most top 30 guys.
that wasnt a statement that deserves any scrutiny it was an exaggeration to say that the old timers are over rated
if a 38 year old dude can stagger floyd twice in 3 minutes, what do you think a welterweight sugar ray robinson could have done? who was taller, rangier, a harder puncher and a much better boxer. we're talking about a dude who had great footwork, could knock people out with both hands while moving any direction, and could go a full 15 rounds no problem. there is no comparison at all.
this is something people do not understand. this is why it is so hard to compare eras. Things that made a fighter great in the 50's does not make a fighter great now and vice versa. Just because a guy fought 4 times a month does not mean he was a skilled fighter.
