Is Floyd Mayweather Bigger in the UK than Khan?

    Was reading a thread in the General about Mayweather saying he's bigger than Khan is in the UK. Shockingly, a big amount think he is.

    Amir is known pretty much from youngsters, to middle age and near old men and women, being on ITV and all, and somehow, a guy who fights in the U.S once or twice a year on Sky Sports is bigger than Amir Khan is in the UK.

    Somehow, because he drew a couple thousand(?) when he came here, he's much bigger. Where was the press, the fans when he came for the Ortiz fight for a day?

    Don't see any sense or logic behind it. What do you think? Is he really KNOWN more than Amir Khan is in the UK? :huh

    Oh and apparently Floyd-Ortiz did better than Khan-McCloskey? :lol:?

    No, fewer people have heard of Floyd Mayweather than they have Amir Khan.

    Lots of people like yourself got into boxing because of Amir Khan, could be wrong but i doubt many people from England got into boxing because they like Floyd Mayweather

    No, people know Khan from going back to the Olympic medal and his fights on ITV, to most non-boxing fans Mayweather is only known as that American who beat Hatton.

    If you asked a random teenager or someone on the streets and asked about Amir Khan, there's a good chance they'd know who he is.

    Would they know if they said Floyd Mayweather? Maybe the odd one out, but very very unlikely. Apart from Casual & hardcore boxing fans, a lot wouldn't know.

    Nah Khan's definitely bigger. Floyd probably thinks he's better known than the Queen though so I wouldn't take what he says to heart Laz

    A lot more people here will know who Khan is and what he does. Maybe Mayweather has more, hardcore fans which would explain why all those people turned up to watch him train. Just an idea:think

    Yes, easily! People only know Khan as that guy that got knocked out in a minute and has 1 round ppv's. Floyd is very well known here for obvious reasons the floyd and oscar fights

    Exactly. It's not Floyd, mate :lol:. I've got ten ****s in the General all saying Mayweather is bigger, that he's done more PPV's on Primetime than Khan/McCloskey etc etc. Got to me. At least I'm not alone. Got a lil' worried then ;)

    Absolutely spot on. Khan's had tons of press conference's, public training sessions and I'm arguably the biggest Khan fan on the board and do I go to them? No.

    If Floyd came, there's a bloody good chance I would. He's a Boxing Icon (as much as I hate to say it) and who wouldn't want to see him? He's the best in the Sport.

    Check out the thread about the same thing on the General Forum. I've got ten delusional's saying Floyd is biggest etc etc and I'm just thinking... :huh:-:)patsch
