I'm a die hard Floyd fan. And long before Mayweather, Roy Jones, Delahoya, B-Hop and right before a young Tyson I was a major die hard Sugar Ray Leonard fan the man that turned me on to watching boxing whenever he was on and whose first retirement in 82' inspired me to watch other great fighters during that time and era on T.V. Hagler, Hearns, Holmes, Duran, Gomez, Sanchez, Arguello, Pryor, Pedroza and right along with those names Mancini, Camacho, Rosario, Nelson, Chavez Sr., all just to name a few.

If anything such as life that boxing has taught me after watching greats like Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali right before him retire is that boxing will almost never be void of superstars no matter what the division. Now true we've had to endure a major dry spell in the Heavyweight division for a while which if anything should make historians and long time fans such as myself appreciate the great skills that Larry Holmes displayed to us and brought into our living rooms back in the day when fights were still coming on free TV on weekend afternoons and sometimes primetime.

If anything is to be learned from the not to distant past of say no more than 30-years ago as I've just mentioned boxing will not be void of superstar talent when Floyd "Money" Mayweather retires for good. Will he be the last and least of all biggest superstar of his era, yes hands down. And with all do respect to B-Hop, Martinez, Pacquiao and Cotto, true superstars of todays era in their own right, Floyd will most certainly leave this era as boxings biggest of all stars and not to mention T.B.E..

Future Stars to stay tuned for in no particular order: Canelo Alvarez, Andre Ward, Danny Garcia, Adrien Broner, Yurokias Gamboa, Mikey Garcia, Nonito Donaire(still), Terrence Crawford, Ruslan Provonikov, Lucas Matthysee, Chavez Jr.(possibly still), Shawn Porter, Keith Thurman and Erislandy Lara(possibly still). All just to name a few.

No there will be a next, will they get paid as much ? Im not sure Floyd is the highest paid athlete on the planet and at one time Mike Tyson was.

It looks to happen about every 20 years. Ray Leonard . Tyson. Floyd/ Manny.

Floyd certainly is a huge boxing attraction and hes highly ranked in an atg sense, but quite a bit down the totem from being T.B.E.

As far a future stars go, like all things in life when there is a void left behind it inevitably will be filled.

The fact that Floyd isn't even that much of an international superstar at all clearly shows how weird that thought is.
Maybe 2% of the people here even know him, and about 5% know who Manny is.

Superstardom comes and goes, in every major sport and then usually in the kings class of that sport if there are classes in it.
For boxing it probably means that some superhyped American actually lives up to that hype (wich happens once every nn years), or it's a heavyweight who actually manages to defend his title 5+ times and looks good doing it.

There will be another superstar, and he will very probably be bigger as Floyd ever was, who isn't very well known by the general public abroad. Will he earn the same kind of money or even more? Depends on his fanbase and the state of the economy at the time.

He is not fit to carry Wladimar Klitschko's jock strap. Just another overrated Amerobum. Popular stateside yes but not in Europe where really modern civilization was birthed. For illiterates google the Magna Carta. Wlad fills 60,000 and more soccer stadiums. He is a virtual rock star in the heartland of Europe much like Elvis Pressley was the KING in the blossom of the south. Long live the greatest heavyweight boxing champion of all time, Wlad, the Steelhammer Klitschko.

In every era this question is asked. Is Ali the last superstar?, is Leonard the last superstar?, is Hagler the last superstar?, is Hearns the last superstar?, is Duran the last superstar?, is Tyson the last superstar?, is Holmes the last superstar?, is Lewis the last superstar?, is Holyfield the last superstar?, is DLH the last superstar?, is Trinidad the last superstar?, is Pacquiao the last superstar?....etc

It might take a while for someones earning power to reach his level, but there will always be the next "superstar" in every sport.
