Jason Abelson, a Canadian sportswriter and commentator, has written an article published on The Fight Network's website, that states "Floyd Mayweather is easily the best boxer to have stepped into a ring in the past 30 years"...

    http://www.thefightnetwork.com/news_detail.php?nid=7294

I was taken aback by this. To say Floyd is as good as Leonard, Hearnes, Hagler and prime Jones is debatable. Personally, I think Leonard was clearly better.

But Abelson claims Floyd is "easily" better than Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Tyson, Jones, etc. - to me this seems absolutely ridiculous! :patsch

    What do you all think?

Roy Jones is greater than Floyd and if they would both retire today history would reflect this

imo Hopkins/Mayweather is a closer debate

floyd could be the best but he will not fight the fights to prove it.

it seems that floyd is just happy with being the best boxer at this moment in time.

if he fights the likes of cotto and wins and fights a few more p4p rated fighters then he could overtake jones but i do not think it will happen.

ATG's fought ATG's and p4p kings floyd is fighting people he knows he can win to line his pockets.

sorry if if is not fully coherant i am pissed and i bit chemically intoxicated

    BIG NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

talented and very skill yes, however that very same thing has been said about a few fighters who at one time were undefeated until they were beat, like chavez, even oscar at one time was considered a great fighter also tito when he was knocking out people left and right as a welter.

Let me just say that Leonard, Hagler, Duran, Tyson, Jones all fought the best of their time

Roy Jones Jr deserves that crown

I also believe that Cotto could defeat Mayweather right now
