Is Floyd Mayweather "easily" the best fighter of the past 30 years?

    Name one fighter within the last 30 years whose resume includes such a large number of prime ATG's.

    Of course, one can always put together fallacious arguments in favour/disfavour of an athlete by rearranging the timeline, the way you did.

    Mayweather/Arguello, Duran, Chavez, SRL, Hearns, prime DLH @ 140, Trinidad @ 154, Terry Norris are all fantasy matchups, no connection whatsoever with reality;

    Mayweather was not even 3 years into his pro career when Mosley moved up from lw to ww (note that Mayweather called out Mosley but Mosley ignored him);

    Kostya Tszyu had already past his prime when PBF moved up to jr. ww. A fight between the two was conceivable but there's reason to believe that the end result would have favoured PBF (ref.: Hatton/Tszyu);

    PBF had just moved up to light ww when Winky moved his weight up to mw.

    If we allow ourselves back into reality, the only conceivable matchup between PBF and the ATG's you listed is with Tszyu, which would have probably resulted in a PBF win had it materialized.

    Floyd Mayweather is definetly the best managed and marketed boxer. The media built him. They even got people to called him "money". What kind of BS is that??? Money?? What a joke??

    I would say Jones is the best I have seen in my time...both for consistancy and ability....he didnt have a bad performance till he dropped from Heavy shedding the pounds.

    Floyd is also close behind. he has an excellent resume and has been consistant. He fought 5 P4P guys and faced dangerous opposition.
    Hes just lacking the Cotto fight on his resume, other than that you have to give this Brat his due.

    Leanord was absolutley superb at his peak, we have such high regard for him because despite his flamboyance he always put it on the line and took a risk, slugging with the puncher etc.

    but in terms of consistancy Leanord has looked poor in several of his fights.

    Duran Lelonde etc....Also if we are critical of Jones losing at 35 to Tarver and Johnson, then I guess we have to be critical of Leanord losing at 34 to Comacho Norris.

    for me.

    1. Jones.
    2. Leanord.

    fighter?
    He is'nt the no.1 fighter in the last 30 years, he isn't even top 30 in the last 1 year.
    Boxer?
    He's probably the best now, but i can think of quite a few that i'd pick over him going back to the 80's.

    Iwould have loved to have seen PBF/Tszyu. PBF was taylor made, backing up against the ropes with his rolling his shoulder defense.Tszyu absolutely relished that sort of defense. Iwatch the way Floyd moves in defense(along the ropes) and it saddens me that i'll never get to see Tszyu use his exquisite timing and power to khtfo.

    I'm not a huge fan of RJJ but between 1998 and 2003 he was better then Floyd is today.Floyd is the best boxer of the last 5 years at best.

    Just like all the other fighters ... Floyd's legacy will grow and people will learn to appreciate him more once he hangs up the gloves for good.

    People don't think that highly of fighters until their career is done ... or they have a humbling moment --

    So who the **** is Abselon?

    I ****ing HATE these football journalists who pretend to know about boxing, and come up with all these ******ed comments.

    Its very bad in the UK as well. Half the journalists all say that Calzaghe is undisputably Britains greatest ever fighter. There are about (literally) 3 or 4 proper boxing journalists in the whole of the UK. If that, and they are all cretins.
