Mayweather is a great defensive fighter, but not the best fighter in the last 30 years.

True, but the fighters division has nothing to do with a P4P rating. Castillo, DLH, and Baldomir were not on very many P4P lists on any websites, media, and most likely many fans (Castillo most likely should have been).

We can argue this point based on accomplishments, but I feel accomplishments should have context. And some of Mayweather's accomplishments are dubious, though attractive when looked at on the surface. Leonard won titles in as many weight classes while facing higher opposition, Whitaker in one less, Jones in one less while scaling more weight classes. That's why I feel accomplishments need context and must be looked at individually to be judged.

Anyone care to follow up? I have to finish a paper lol, and not sure I can continue the discussion.

:yep He doesn't seem to understand the sport of boxing very well. Stating Mayweather is "easily" better than Leonard, Whitaker, Jones and Hagler reveals a serious lack of knowledge!

Jason Abelson is the lead broadcaster/commentator on The Fight Network - I wonder why he was chosen for his job? :think Perhaps because his employers don't know much about boxing either.
