No, no he's a boring, ducking, dull **** that hasn't fought anybody worth a damn for about 5 years. He may as well just retire if he doesn't want to fight the elite of the sport.
I don't know, man. I mean, we keep saying how boxing is dead these days, that something has to happen to 'save boxing', that casual fans are becoming less and less and all that. But whatever this ****er does, he makes people pay attention to boxing and talk about boxing. Pacquiao is good for boxing by being exciting and skillful in the ring, Mayweather does it with his skills and much controversy. Both make people talk about boxing. So in that sense yes, he's good for the sport.
Very much so. I haven't seen/heard people talking about boxing this deep into a week in a very long time. I'm still getting text messages and people on the streets talking about the fight. Good or bad, love him or hate him, he (with the help of Cortez and Ortiz) is bringing buzz to the sport. Even if it is just for a week.
His sucker punches will bring in a lot of new fans. People love brutal KOs like that, part of why the UFC has become so popular, it was shown and repeated all over the news. He didn't hurt the sport, more his own image, that's what he wants though -to be seen as the ultimate villain
I had two people today mention the fight. This Hispanic Vendor-dude on the corner of M and 20th asked me if I saw it... He said they both were wrong, but he thinks Ortiz coulda got up. And this dumb-ass chick was talking **** to me saying "I'm gonna Mayweather yo ass soon as you try to hug me." I was like WHAT?!?!?
All I can say is that I had some casual fans watching the fight with me. They all started the night liking Floyd because they knew him from Dancing with the Stars and 24/7. Appalled with the ending, they are all now Ortiz fans, and use the term "trash" when referring to Floyd. When they left, they all vowed to never watch Floyd again...but they wanted to know when the next Pac fight was on.
