Put that way,Mayweather can continue to fight the bradley's,ortiz's pay them 2 million, and make 40 million and be the number 1 highest paid athlete, and not get hit, and box until he is in his 50s.

Why is Floyd making 40 million a fight against cotto, over other more exciting boxers. Plain and simple he is undefeated and is annoying, he is the heel of boxing, everyone wants to see the bad guy get his face smashed in, especially if he is undefeated. Floyd doesn't even knockout guys that much, he isn't a well known knockout puncher,he is no bailey, so why else is he so popular. Its not worth it, even if he got 100 million and won, the beating he'd take would not be worth it. Pacquiao will not allow mayweather to leave that ring without getting beaten up, even if he wins. Mayweather will bleed.

Lol, I don't know about scared. But it's pretty obvious neither of these guys want to fight each other. They've both been calling each other out for a while now... only to come with excuse after excuse.
