Floyd is a once in a generation boxer and brilliant tactician. His ability to adapt to fighters during the fight is something which stands out for me. He was shaken by Zab Judah early but changed his game plan to overcome the skilled south paw. He was up against it early on against Oscar De la Hoya but adapted his game plan to slay the Golden Boy. His dominance over Ricky Hatton cemented his legacy, even though his persona always threatens to hinder it. But as of today and the night that he goes up against Manny Pacquiao, how good is Floyd? I say this because he has had one fight in two years and I have my doubts over the Marquez fight. Yes, he did look good, but it was against a Juan Manuel Marquez who was fighting two weight divisions above what he was use to. A Juan Manuel Marquez who at 36 with his best years behind him was looking at the pay day that was on the table. That night Marquez was embarrassingly off the mark and Floyd did what he had to do. No knockout but a UD none the less, but Marquez was not the same man that warred with Manny Pacquiao. Floyd will be 33 years old by the time he gets in the ring with Manny and yes he has been magic, but as Roy Jones Jnr showed recently the magic leaves. In my eyes magic isn't needed to beat a shot Marquez, but it will be needed to defeat the current pound for pound best. Of course what I'm saying is pure conjecture and we won't know until he steps in the ring with Pacquiao if the Floyd of yesteryear will be present. I for one am very curious to see what happens. One fight in two years, against a hand picked shot fighter worries me though. Will we see the shoulder rolls, the precision and the dominance, against someone who at this moment in time is making a habit of retiring ex-champs? March 13th or whenever these two hopefully get in the ring will prove a lot. For Floyd's sake I hope it's soon than later.
