Both Overrated & Underrated at the same time. He is defo not what his team claim... (G.O.A.T.) But has proven to be one of the better fighters in the last 15 years or so.
I think it's just more speculation with him. People say he beats everyone around his weight class today and that's fine. But he hasn't done it. I wouldn't say he's overrated though. He is one of the best fighters of this era.
I assume you mean talent wise. I don't think he is, I think he is p4p he is the most complete fighter in any division. His (Mayweather) main Criticism is the opponents he chooses to fight-hence the cherry picking acquisitions.
If you were to say his early days at Super Feather and Lightweight then I'd say no. Unfortunately with him now claiming to be a welterweight and avoiding all other legit welters then you'd have to question him. I wouldn't say he's OVERRATED, I'd say PBF is UNTESTED at welterweight more so than anywhere else. If he beats JMM, Pacman and then some real welters afterwards then we can start judging his days as a welter more effectively. I wanna see him in with Mosley ASAP although I concede this probably won't happen. You guys in America have to realise that you do have a great champion, though, even if you don't like or don't rate him.
In a way. The man is great. But his career has a lot of picking the right fighter at the right moment. Totally overpaid. He should not get paid as much for fighting against opponents with no chance while the real opponents get ignored. In that sense he is overrated and over paid. Could he beat the real opponent??? Probably. But lacks the balls to prove it.
