No. He's not even in the top 25.

He was a cherry-picker who only fought faded (age 40 Mosley) or limited (Mitchell) opponents. He avoided prime top welterweights. He fought people from smaller weight divisions (Marquez, Hatton, Guerrero).

And unlike the real ATGs, he refused to fight outside his chosen hometown of Las Vegas, where he had dishonest judges and dodgy personal referees like Joe Cortez to help him out.

    His entire career was manufactured.

Funny how he retired when WW was one of the better divisions in boxing.

@Perkin Warbeck, I have read comments hundreds of times on this forum about dishonest or bought judges. Many times in relation to Canelo and Floyd but lots of other boxers as well. I've never said anything but have decided to ask you because you are a sane and logical poster. Do you honestly believe the judges have been bribed or intentionally score a fight differently from how they actually see the fight? At the upper levels I just find that really hard to believe.

Are you referring to his temporary retirements or his retirement when he was pushing 40

Some of them are. No one could possibly be so stupid. I watched a fight this year Chaney-Arias and John Basile scored it 96-94 for Chaney, who clearly lost virtually every round.

The three judges who scored round 10 of Ward-Kovalev I for Ward were evidently paid off. As was the referee who called an illegal low blow in the second fight a TKO. And remember the judge who scored Holyfield-Lewis I for Holyfield?

Some referees are CONSISTENTLY dishonest. Joe Cortez and Ian John-Lewis will always assist the promoters' fighter. In Mayweather-Hatton, Cortez deducted a point from Hatton for NOTHING, and wouldn't let the shorter-armed British boxer fight on the inside.

Jack Reiss gave a long count to Tyson Fury, any honest referee would have stopped the fight. And Reiss allowed Ward to deliberately head butt Kessler.

Mayweather clearly lost the first fight with Castillo, but all three judges scored it wide for the hometown boxer (Anek Hongtongkam 116-111, John Keane 115-111, Jerry Roth 115-111). I know those are not stupid men, they know boxing, so they must be corrupt.
