H2H he arguably loses to the a lot of the agreed upon greats of their specific weight classes. He probably loses to Duran at LW, JCC at Jr WW, and Leonard or Hearns at WW/Jr MW. Yes he was great overall, but I'd really only consider him the greatest Jr. LW ever. The question from OP was asking if he was the best in a specific weight class, and my response is that no, other than Jr. LW, he wasn't.

He was the best fighter of his era and he was indeed an exceptional fighter period. I don't think that he would been undefeated in the Leonard, Hearns, Duran and Benitez area but he would have held his own and he would have made adjustments. His skills and his ring IQ is on par with any of the greatest fighters that ever fought.

Okay, you are starmanning my agrument. It's like everything is just a guy from the moon or whatever but my case is much more down to earth than you think. Firstly let's agree on some basics. 1. Do you agree that Barrera literally had a metal plate in his head when he fought Pacquiao...?
    2. Do you agree that Pernell Whitaker is the best fighter who ever fought at welterweight? 3. Do you agree that he was the sitting champion when ODLH beat him? 4. Do you agree that almost no one has beaten the number of champions Floyd has without a loss? Actually, who has? And in how many weight classes? Floyd is the greatest welterweight of all time.

Whitaker was too small at welter and couldn`t deal ODH`s reach.

If he couldn't deal with it, and he was too small, Oscar obviously dominated him and knocked him out. Wait, let me check Boxrec to see if that matches with what we're saying. Nope. Just looked. I knew I remembered it right but then you almost convinced me I didn't. Good try, man.
