Is Floyd Mayweather the most popular athlete in America?

Nope, I didn't say he wasn't popular....he's popular in the sense of name recognition. But obviously the TS didn't specify and so you go by the usual using of the word in terms of being well-liked...and I stand by the logic that his lack of marketing suggests he isn't one of the more popular athletes in the US. Think of the most popular athletes, what do they have in common? ...That's right. a huge endorsement portfolio.

you definitely implied that he wasn't popular. "Just look at his endorsement deals (or lack thereof). That's usually a good indicator of popularity.....marketability." he has ZERO endorsement deals, and your initial point, the catalyst for this debate, hinges on that incontrovertible fact, therefore, he isn't popular by the standards you yourself posed, no?

 

The question posed is if Floyd is one of the of most popular athletes in America? Therefore, unless I say specifically that "hell no he isn't even popular to begin with", whatever answer i give should have that inference.....that he is popular, not just on the level the question poses. And I'm sure Floyd has some minor endorsement deals....I mean pac has vegetables, maybe Floyd endorses spinner rims or some **** like that.

He's not even close, but that's due to his personality. If he were a humble, classy guy he would have a shot at being the most popular.

 

I guess this explains why he is getting along with 50 and Bieber. Sure he wants to give it back to the comminity but a short while ago he was ahaving tax problems and had to comeback from retirement. ODLH filled up stadiums and Manny is doing it now. Nobody denies Mayweather but this is a charisma thing. JCC had more than 100 thousand in the Aztec Stadium for his fight against Greg haugen and every time Cotto, tito in his time used to get in there, MSG was packed. SRR and Maxim fought in the Yankee Stadium, which other fight has been fought there ever since? I just see the Klitsckos filling up German stadiums and Hatton the M.E.N Arena, calzaghe the Millenium Stadium, David Haye and Enzo M the new Stadium in the UK, Benn and Eubank had Old Trafford packed for their rematch...
