Mayweather is overrated in terms of greatness, he may be in my Top 50, not sure. He is one of the best to lace them up though, i.e Top 20-15. Genaro Hernandez was massively stylistically disadvantaged and was on the way down, but it's still a very good win. Diego Corrales = very good win. Corrales was an elite fighter although feeling drained. It was a dismantling though and it needs respect. Jose Luis Castillo 1 and 2 = Mayweather lost this fight in my opinion and in the opinion of most, but it was close fight but for me it's a clear 7-5 UD for Castillo. Mayweather had a torn rotator cuff early in the fight so that does still need to be considered when assessing this performance. Mayweather beat him convincingly in a close second fight to silence the doubters. Sharmba Mitchell = past prime. Zab Judah = Good win, not a 'very good' win. Zab put Floyd through hell. Oscar De La Hoya = Completely past prime. Oscar had been past it since 2003, this is an old man we're talking of, not the Oscar of old. The reason why Mayweather was able to win the last 4 rounds and get that decision is because even a young Oscar had stamina problems, you can only imagine how this would effect an old Oscar. Prime Oscar at least gets a draw, at LEAST vs Mayweather. Ricky Hatton = Good win. Hatton is vastly overrated, he had an even fight (arguably lost) to Collazo prior to this. Juan Manuel Marquez = Very good win, although Mayweather committed a farce by heavily outweighing Marquez, so the quality of this win is diminished somewhat and it cannot be understated. Just imagine Salido coming on the scales at 130lbs vs a 126lb Lomachenko, that's a farce (Salido was 128.5). Shane Mosley = Too old for it to be considered a 'good' win. Mosley was losing wars against Cotto, let's forget the state he was in during 2010, almost two years after he beat Margarito in a fight that stylistically favoured him massively. Canelo Alvarez = Very good win. Although Canelo was stylistically disadvantaged. Whitaker would have won in an even better style. Miguel Cotto = Very good win. Cotto was past prime by this point, but he was much bigger than Floyd and stylistically this wasn't an easy fight for Floyd. Marcos Maidana 1 = DRAW. Maidana would have won this fight by many points if he just ran more after loading up. Marcos Maidana 2 = Very good win. Let's not forget Maidana was 165lbs on fight night, and stylistically very tough for an ageing Mayweather. Manny Pacquiao = A very good win, but not an ATG win. Pacquiao is psychologically and physically done. Had a torn rotator cuff (Mayweather used his torn shoulder vs JLC as much as Manny). 4 years past prime (far more so than Mayweather especially being a pressure fighter), still an elite fighter but no longer on ATG level. Mayweather fought a decent bunch of contenders like Guerrero, Jesus Chavez, Gatti etc. Mayweather's longevity cannot be praised too much. Mayweather only fought a couple of times a year, ring age is different to actual age. Mayweather fought in a weak era, there's not an ATG win on his resume either. He took a convenient vacation when stylistic threats like Margarito, Williams, prime Pacquiao and prime Cotto were dominating the game. Mayweather is 47-1-1. In history, he'd lost to SRL, SRR, Duran, Hearns, Napoles, Whitaker (his offensive diversity and more instinctive defensive abilities > Mayweather). Evenly matched fights in history: prime Oscar, a ready LMR and a ready Griffith.
Very underrated The man fought most of his career dehydrated and still was able to go all 12 rounds. Many boxers would have pulled out of the fight if they were dehydrated to the point of using 750ml of IV. Only Floyd can do that, very underrated fighter.
I forgot about that. Floyd's career is a farce. But I think in history (from 60's), they were all taking things. I reckon only 10% of the top fighters didn't.
