of course he is one of the true very top ATG's.
whats weird and sad is IF he wasnt as great as he has been throughout his career he would be looked at as even greater than he is.

if he had been knocked down, beaten down over his career then came back to put another winning streak together he would be looked at as a much greater fighter than he is and thats ONLY if he wasnt as great as he is.

his greatness actually hurts him with the types of fans we today with social media making everything instant, too many "fans" (not real fans of the sport) take what other haters spew online then just run with it.

i'm sure most in here wont be able to grasp what i'm saying but thats ok, par for the course.

I'm going to give you all my honest opinion for what it is worth no joking or BS ing OK

Floyd Mayweather jr is one of the most naturally talented boxers I have ever seen . Talent wise YES he is in the same league as Ali, Robinson etc & really should be ranked up there with them legacy wise. BUT!!
Sadly , for whatever reason you believe Floyd has not lived up to his potential. He ducked, avoided or plain wouldn't fight several of his legitimate contemporaries when he should & could have done.
Had he fought Paquaio, Margarito, Williams Tsyzu etc he may well have beaten them all, we will never know. Had he lost a couple of them his legacy would STILL!! be way above what it is now. All the real ATG's lost fights
He has been labelled a coward, ducker , cherrypicker etc Those names stick
I never could for the life of me see why Floyd would not fight all comers. That's what REAL ATG"S do.
Today with the Floyd -Manny fight all it will prove, I HOPE. who is the better man today not which fighter was the overall better man
Ive been accused of being a Pac**** & a Floyd hater I'm neither I'm a devoted boxing addict who always wants to see a good clean on the level fight with the better man getting the win

When did he ever fight "the man"?

There is no prime Duran, Morales, Hagler, Hearns, Barrera, Leonard, etc. on his resume.

He is an ATG, but he is in some ways a victim of timing in that the last truly great WW era featured Tito, Oscar and Shane in or near their prime...and was around 2001, when Floyd was a Super Featherweight. So we can't hold that against Floyd!! Had he been able to fight and beat any or all of them at that time, he may well have been lauded as a top 10-30 ATG (though personally, I believe all three, in their prime would have beat Floyd).

Had Floyd fought Manny three years ago (or at least before Marquez put Manny's lights out) he would have been considered a top 30-40 ATG at least.

Floyd is definitely a bone fide ATG... Just a fair way from being TBE.
