No other fighter could claim to better Floyd in terms of work ethic in the gym. He must rate as one of, if not the hardest trainer in the business, always in shape, working hard even at 2am in the morning.

No other fighter could claim to better Floyd in terms of trying to perfect his particular style and craft.

His physical gifts aside, is Floyd punished by the fans and such for "Not taking chances" and "Never having to battle to win" ?

The guy always comes 100% prepared. He never comes in out of shape, he never comes in feeling down, he always comes in focused, prepared, gives his opponent the respect required in the first few rounds, never "takes rounds off" from that in the same way Lennox Lewis/Roy Jones Jr did.

I think most of the problem people have with Floyd comes down to the fact that he won't be beaten. The excuse now used is "Cause he won't fight anyone who could possibly beat him"

It's boxing - anyone can beat anyone on the night with a lucky punch (unless you're Oliver McCall).

Now? That's always been the knock on Floyd.

This is what Emanuel Steward said the week of the fight:

Q: Now coming into this fight, should Floyd still be regarded as the pound for pound king in boxing or do you think Manny Pacquiao has rightly surpassed him in that regard?

A: I think Manny has surpassed him. He’s been active. He’s fought top notch guys at their peak and continued it for five years, too, almost which is unbelievable. Where there was questions about Floyd not wanting to fight Margarito at the time, and there was no money he said with Shane Mosley, so he avoided a lot of those real tough fights whereas Manny, whoever they make a match with he just says, “Let’s fight!” I don’t care whether it’s been Barrera, and the fights with Marquez, (Eric) Morales, Ricky Hatton, Oscar (De La Hoya), I mean—he’s earned the right. He is definitely the pound for pound champion as far as I’m concerned, and not just because of activity but the high level of competition he’s continuously fought for five years and performed great in all of those fights.

That was for future negotiations with your favorite fighter. Now he can say he can't make a catch weight and demand more money to drop down.

It cracks me up that Pacquaio's wins against ODLH and Hatton are viewed higher than Floyd's.

ODLH drained himself to 147 to face Pacquaio.
Hatton went on a drinking and eating binge after losing to Floyd.

It's the true sense of idiocy in this whole debate. Suddenly, non legitimate challengers against Floyd are legitimate against Manny.

I even like Manny and think those wins were incredible, but no less than Mayweathers wins.

And Mayweather cherrypicks an opponent 2 weight divisions below him who is fully disadvantage against him.

It cracks me up when the thread starter suddenly pops up a totally different topic than the one he created...:huh

So where's the work ethic and perfectionism when Floyd was penalized $600,000 for being unprofessional dumb****??

Marquez who gave Pacquaio everything he could take and then some, who should have had two decisions go his way in their two fights...... is considered to be "cherry picked" against Floyd?

P4P#2 in the world, and that's cherry picking?

Wish the Heavyweights would cherrypick like this, at least then we'd have an interesting heavyweight division.

Why do so many people think Haye has a great chance against Wlad? He's going up in weight class, not only that, he's giving up 55lbs on the weight that he last fought at.

Reverse their height and reach between Marquez and Floyd - do you see the fight going different? I don't.

You say unprofessional. I say smart. Why didn't he say "OK, gimme 2 hours to drain further" - why did he just accept the fine? Think about it.

I'd put them at equal, although Hopkins takes a lot of rounds off and never ensures victory in the close matches the way that Floyd does.

Nice $600,000 investment dumb Floyd... That money is gone, don't hope to recover it in another weight stipulations of future fights... Those other top boxers and their team are not as dumb as Floyd and his team...:hi:

It's a very peculiar and polarizing thing that you mentioned right there (the first thing). It's funny because many people on ESB discredit him because he's never had to tough it out and I'm the exact opposite as I view it as a true testament to his skillset, talent, ring intelligence, and just overall complete mastery of boxing that he's never had to do this. Only a truly great fighter would never have to "battle to win" w/o taking multiple losses.

As far as the second thing that I highlighted, yeah it's a combination of that and the fact that he's young, black, and just doesn't give a ****. That's America's nightmare right there. Brash, cocky, arrogant, pompous, confrontational, immodest, disrespectful, antagonistic, self-centered, egotistical, conceited, and difficult . . . not to mention rich, undefeated, and has a tendency to speak in the third person. Tough pill for the world to swallow.

I just watched the fight for the first time...another so-very typical Mayweather borefest. I would've had more fun taking a 36minute tour of my own ****in' living room.
