Is floyd strategically waiting for pac to slow down before fighting him?

ala sugar ray leonard when he fought hagler. :think

we all know pac's speed is one of his major assets... he gets away with a lot of mistakes because of this.

I dont even think he wants to fight him. Unless he needs money he has no reason to. If he does it'll be bc he was pressured into it. He's just biding his time, hoping something happens to derail the fight, or have a good excuse not to take the fight.

I dont think he really wants to find anyone. Things like not paying the sanctioning fee for the belt against SSM kind of show that he is in this for money now and nothing more , i do think there is too much money in this fight for him to walk away from but he probably wont take it until he has to.

If pac slows down he'd be easy pickings for floyd... floyd will just ride the bike and pot shot him. without pac's hand and foot speed it would be harder for him to close the gap effectively...

Floyd is worried, no doubt about it

But if it ever happens, Floyd wins it

Floyd has gotten used to the big paycheck and somewhat easy fights. It could be he has the money but just doesn't want to get hurt anymore. Hes been boxing for a long time now.

What everyone has to remember is that Floyd whole persona and marketablility is based on the notion that he is undefeated

If he loses that he loses his whole retirement benefits. Big corporate events, interviews, and his legacy will forever be tarnished.

Pacquiao is just too big a risk.

After facing De La Hoya he had big gloves and a smaller ring. after that fight he realised that he is the bigger draw so he can demand what he wants. With Pacquiao he will look for any advantage, so random drug testing plays into his hands.

I don't think they really believe Pacquiao is on anything, but the drug testing issue keeps the two fighters apart and keeps people from believing Floyd is worried about tarnishing his legacy from being handed a defeat

The longer floyd waits for pac to slow down, the more he slows down as well. I really don't see how floyd is afriad of manny. floyd is better boxer than Morales(who beat pac) Marquez(who also beat pac unoffically).

He's 34 and fought 41 times. I know that's a fair career but he's hardly James Toney. Considering how little punishment he usually takes he could easily squeeze in one more fight if he had the bollocks.

I think he's probably hoping Pacquaio will get worn down, and then fight a shot version of him.

    that's the bottom line.

I think floyd eventually fights pac even without those silly demands if there's an obvious decline in pac's speed. I really thought he would fight pac when he came back from retirement but then pac KOed hatton... brutalized cotto, shut down clottey, beat the **** out of margarito.

If somehow shane exposes pac's decline i wouldn't be surprised if the fight happens.

It favors floyd's style more since he is more "technical".

pac may throw a lot punches in weird angles and his chin might be solid but without his speed he won't be as effective.

I've no idea. I suspect it's as simple as he's got one foot in and one foot out of the game and he doesn't know what he wants to commit himself to doing. I think it's like that for the majority of fighters in their thirties+ who aren't broke or still chasing the brass ring.

yes... but base on style it would really favor him.
