Clearly, Floyd is not the best fighter ever. We all know that is BS.

Let's come to maybe a more reasonable point whether Floyd is the best defensive fighter ever?

My answer would be no again.

Prime Pernell Whitaker, Willi Pep and Wilfredo Benitez clearly rank above Floyd.

Probably not as good as Pernell Whitaker but all others are debetable.

I agree that prime James Toney is better defensively and offensively than Floyd.

The difference is that Floyd is purely a defensive fighter. James Toney was not.

He's definitely up there with the best ever defensively and it could be argued he was the best. Mayweather moved well in his prime and even if you got him in a corner he was still hard to hit cleanly.

Toney is amazing at mid and close range, his shoulder roll is damn hard to break through. But his lack of movement meant he could be picked off at range from tall or fast boxers as shown by RJJ and Nunn.

Whitaker was practically untouchable and in my opinion even more elusive than Mayweather. While he sometimes did things that were from a technical stand point wrong, it didn't make a difference, you still couldn't hit him. You'd pin him in a corner, he'd make you miss, then slip away, only to jump back into the corner and you'd still couldn't hit him. It didn't matter if he was out of position, off balance or squared up, he was still impossible to hit. Even the quick fisted De La Hoya could barely touch a faded Whitaker.

On the other hand, Floyd never fought anybody like Jones or Nunn.
So, I am not so sure Floyd had better defense than prime Toney

no, boxing is over 100 years old and there were greater defensive fighters than Floyd, unfortunately Flowmows think Floyd found boxing and the sport starts and ends with his career

No, there have been defensive wizards out there that blow your mind.
If you just look at footage of the already mentioned Pernell Withaker, but also guys like Nico Locce and of course Willy Pep you'll see Floyd is extremely effective, but not the very best ever by any stretch. He probably makes a lot of top 10's though.
