still think pac is bigger. we'll see when he fights cotto. if it does better than mayweather marquez, we will know it's because of pac. mexico has far more ppv buyers than puerto rico by population alone.

why is pac bigger? I respect that but how is he bigger in terms of getting people to watch the fight?

In 3 fights with the same opponents pac has had about 2.8 million buys..with those same 3 opponents floyd did 4.3 million buys....

ALSO PAC ONLY DID 400K WITH JMM...THAT WAS THE #2 VS #3 AS WELL...floyd did a million...if floyd isn't the bigger draw than why is the difference in buys so much ??

Absolutly not:bart He could'nt attract flies to ****:smoke

He has never been a big draw, his live gates summed about 4K & the rest are comps for any drunk they could drag in 2 take up space.

    DLH
    Hatton
    Marquez

The above make up 90% of the buys, but as a boxing fan i'd pay for any meaningful world title fight, i like floyd but he has absolutly no meaningful fanbase & you can always judge a fighters popularity by LIVE GATE ticket demand & there ai'nt or never will be any queue's for tickets just 2 see floyd period:smoke

But us lot in the UK travel the world en-masse for sport & there's allready about 2/300 have tickets for the Cotto/Pacman fight ME included, if yer a real fight fan then yer've got 2 do yer pilgrimage:deal

than answer the question...how come other fighters dont do those types of numbers? Why did jmm-floyd come close to pac-oscar..if ur theory was true than pac would be able to do the same numbers and he cant..also it was much more than 4k for the gate..lets not put dubz on ****!

Of course Floyd is the biggest draw in boxing since Dlh. Floyd does something that his peers have not. JMM, Barrera, morales and Pac did good ppv's. They were even in ppv fights before Floyd. Floyd was on HBO. Floyd had the talent that made you want to watch him... he was visible to an American audience, and he speaks English which means a lot to Americans. The four aforementioned are all superb fighters, but they lack a few things that Americans look for. How can those 4 guys I mentioned be in ppv fights before Floyd yet Floyd has blown all 4 away in ppv numbers?

HBO kept Floyd visible to the public. Floyd was seen constantly on HBO by fans all over the country and at times around the world on television. Floyd does these same things that Dlh did to sell his ppv fights. Dlh spoke clear English, we remember during the Olympics that Dlh's mom died(R.I.P)had an exciting fighting style with quick hands and power, and women loved him. Floyd went from being Pretty boy Floyd to Money May changing his persona. That shite sells and Floyd has become a smart business and GBP's knows how to sell a fighter like that. With all the shite talking Floyd always admitted that he learned much of his business from Dlh. Ellerbe is a key factor also in Floyd's career.

I would never hope Cotto-Dapidran does not sell. That would make me look/feel like a cheap trick. Just remember...hating on Floyd is by choice, it's not in a book as fact.

Good lord no.... HBO dropped 20m in marketing for this fight, nearly half the revenue it earned AND the house wasn't sold out. You could get tickets cheaper than face value from scalpers outside the venue.

    Pac outdraws him by miles.

This does not make sense. The JMM-Floyd fight made 52 mil in revenue lol... Many of you don't even know how the 20 mil was used to promote the fight lol... You have to spend money to make money. HBO/GBP made a profit. You guys are some how putting down the fact that GBP spent 20 mil lol...:nut on a fight that generated 52 mil...!!!???Doesn't make sense at all, I don't get your points at all:huh. This fight was even postponed and it did well ppv wise.

He is the biggest television draw in the United States, and that's about it. He can't pack arenas in his country, definitely not outside of it, and definitely not stadiums. PPV is good money but it's audience is very limited compared to events aired on free TV, meaning more viewers watch well promoted free fights than mega-promoted PPV fights, because you have to pay for the PPV.

I'd say Pacquiao, Hatton, Cotto and maybe Pavlik can put more asses into seats in the US.

On the international level, the following fighters are much bigger TV and live audience draws: Manny Pacquiao, Ricky Hatton, the Klitschko Brothers, also, the following fighters can both pack arenas and produce better ratings than Floyd: Lucian Bute, Felix Sturm, Arthur Abraham, Koki and Daiki Kameda, Jorge Arce and many others. The most popular boxer might be Zou Shiming, because when he fights, the larger part of the Chinese TV audience watches him, and we are speaking about a potential 1 billion TV viewers. No more than a few million watched Floyd beating down a smaller man.

In a country where boxing can be found in the "other sports" or "MMA/Boxing" section and voted "dead" by ESPN, Floyd Mayweather is the biggest TV draw.

24/7 is an absolute work of marketing ART.

It would have been mostly Mexzz that bought the lions share of this fight + DLH has big *****/gay appeal & so he's a big crossover & Hatton fills stadiams & sells PLENTY thats why GBP flew over to the UK 2 give him a blow job, selling any product is EASY as long as you have a class/slick marketing campaign + the pino's have no $$$$ they'll all be jammed into a fast food kichin watching it, it's all about marketing demergraphics.

If Floyd were to fight Michell again next how many of you would buy it? Floyd has to have another marque name opposite him in the ring for a fight to sell big, simple as:smoke

He's definitely a big draw. Im just not sure if people are tuning in because they are fans of Floyd, or because they just want to see him loose...or perhaps just because the fight itself is promoted so well it reaches out to so many people. If Floyd had lots of fans, he would pack arenas...he doesnt so im guessing most PPV buyers are in it because its an "event" worth paying $50 for but not worth seeing live...or they want to see Floyd beaten.

Yea, I was about to post, that it might be the Klitschko brothers that are the biggest draws in boxing.
