The rumor is that Floyd will be receiving a guarantee of $40mil plus ppv profits. My question is, is this even realistic? Surely Oscar was a MUCH bigger draw than Ortiz and Floyd received a far lower guarantee for that fight. Surely Mosley was a far bigger draw than Ortiz and its been reported that Floyd's guarantee for that fight was $22.5mil. So how is it that HBO and GBP can guarantee Floyd $40mil against an unproven draw such as Ortiz?

I doubt his contract will stipulate a guarentee of $40M. However, his entire financial package(i.e ppv incentives, live gate %, sponsorships, international revenue) will probably end up netting him around $40M.

I doubt it is 40 million guarantee but I can see making that much with all the other aspects apply. This will be Ortiz biggest payday hopefully not his last mega fight.

It is but GBP is taking a huge risk. They will only be able to break even if it does atleast around 1.2 million buys (im assuming the gate does $10 million, the venue will buy the fight for the same price and the undercard fighters are getting paid ridiculously low). Even after 1.2 million GBP will be taking minimal profit especially if Floyd has upside with PPV buys. All this and Ortiz can NOT get anything over $3.5 million which is his gurantee no ppv upside whatsoever. Its feasible but very risky.

Hbo knows Floyd fights generate huge money, and also since team Pac took their bags and headed to showtime, HBO has to stand by they're man Floyd Mayweather boxings only big draw left, and also Mayweather generated over 50 million fighting Mosley, It wouldn't be out of the ordinary that his getting and demanding 40 million guaranteed, and rightfully so.

well 1.2mil buys will bring 60mil. Thats 20mil for GBP/HBO profits, Ortiz purse, promotional costs. I heard they spent 20mil alone promoting Mosley-Mayweather so I dont know how their gonna manage this one.

No. Wont happen, and not realistic. People overestimate the % of the total gross boxers get, which is rarely over 50% on PPV. Take tax from the revenue and he wont be guaranteed close to $40m, would be too much risk.

Wouldn't be out of the ordinary getting and demanding $40m guaranteed? :huh It would be the first time it's happened!

This. BTW is this $40M confirmed by a reliable source? Sounds a bit too much to me even with PPV included.

Could it be that desperate gbp and hbo lured floyd back out of his vacation for some easy big money instead of him coming back on his own intentions? Im a bit worried that he will go away again after winning this fight.

Consider that Mayweather and De La Hoya got $77m between them, all in. The highest grossing fight, largest PPV numbers (2.4m) and biggest gate ever. The biggest combined payday ever for 2 boxers.

Don't know where this number comes from but Mayweather said he earnt $60m against Mosley, a fight which did 1.4m buys. Do the maths. He has no clue with numbers.

Ortiz will probably get peanuts in comparison to Floyd. Seems like Floyd got almost 10 times what Mosley did.
