Well of course! You don't think he'll ever really fight Manny do you?
After Ortiz it'll be another year off, a year filled with accusations of Mannys drug use, some more woman beating, and general primate behavior.
Then he'll come back and cherry pick another novice or someone much smaller.
Why shouldn't he? Everybody buys these PPV's and every one since DLH has been boring .
Stop buying the PPV's against second raters, and Floyd will have to fight Manny or retire.

Ortiz would only get paid 100 pesos. and the rest are for Floyd and GBP.

I've read that Ortiz will be receiving somewhere along the lines of $3.5mil.

That should last him for the rest of his life but compared to what mayweather will get... Its nothing.

It's realistic. I'm sure there will be another 24/7 for this fight and Ortiz has a very intriguing back story which should hook a lot of casual viewers. Floyd will play the villain again, and again there will be a lot of very disappointed people that tuned in to see him lose. The money will be there.

Oscar received the majority of the purse though. The split in this is gonna be overwhelmingly one-sided in favour of Mayweather.

That said, I think $40m for this fight might be a bit optimistic.

Ortiz is Mexican and they support their fighters so the PPV numbers can be there. Floyd is a HUGE draw on his on and with a good undercard I think its realistic.

you're way off. You forgot that PPV distributors (satellite, cable) get a nearly 50% cut of each PPV buy.

Floyd is the kind of person who will exaggerate what he makes. It's not like HBO is going to come out and say "that's not true". They are playing on the same team.

    It's his grade school mentality.

"Hey everyone! I'm gonna make a hundred billion dollars!!! I'm gonna be so rich then everyone will like me and want to be my friends!"

The massively budgeted and marketted fight of FMJ vs. Sugar Shane Mosley (P4P #3, from a win against Margo) "grossed" only $55M, inclusive of the profit from the 1.4M PPV (HBO) - since the MGM gates didn't do well as expected. GBP is so used to loosing money anyway. FMJ's gurantee on that fight is 22.5M, a record broken by Pac's last 2 fights.

Mexican Independence weekend with Canelo on the undercard? $40 million will be a layup.

Blacks will watch just because they want to see Floyd fight. Ortiz has west coast and midwest Latinos on his jock. Canelo brings mad Mexican pride and a huge fanbase. The Filipinos will tune in hoping that Floyd gets beaten so their messiah won't have to face him.

    This will be cake.

Well thats what I mean. Floyd wont get 40mil when everyone else wants a slice of the pie, 20mil simply wont be enough for everyone.
