Well Im not really comparing Manny and Floyd cos thats not what this thread is about......

I think everyone knows how good Manny is (and he IS good)

In terms of Mayweather and him bringing action....it is complete nonesense that he doesn't create action just to discredit him....

I understand he is very calculated, and doesn't take the risks of "some" fighters but he is damn good and Floyd has been a very entertaining boxer imo, his fights with Mosely/Hatton/Ortiz/Gatti/Corrales/Castillo etc etc were all exciting to me.

He's no Mike Tyson but he has been in ALOT of great fights, the REAL problem is most of his fights are WAY too one sided and THAT's the problem for most people.

Regarding dodging "a potential dangerous opponent" there will always be someone / some style they want Mayweather to face, now it is Manny Pacuquiao a few years ago it was Shane/Cotto ----> insert any Top Rank Fighter here, before then it was Morales.

So while the whole Pacquiao fight has become a debacle, its not that Pacquiao is any more dangerous than Shane was or Margorito, its the fact that Floyd hasn't lost and hasn't looked close to losing and they want to see what style/person can trouble or finally beat him.

Becuase the Pacquiao situation has gone on too long and gone sour people are assuming that Pacquiao has the key to beat Mayweather, but I don't believe it personally but I could be wrong.

ESB was filled with Marquez beat Pacquiao, Pacquiao is past it, Floyd called Pacquiao to make the fight threads. Costas interviews Floyd. Filipino translation of this interview has most Filipinos thinking Floyd is scared of Pacquiao AGAIN. Filipinos are not on damage control anymore. They are on the attack again. Now there are billboards on every island in the Phillipines honoring Bob Costas, lmfao. Hilarious!

I agree. In fact I started getting interested in Boxing because of Floyd Mayweather (The schooling of Gatti). I then see him claiming hes the among the best ever, that none can claim what he claimed. And no doubt he has been in fights that were very one sided due to his ability.

Another issue I have is for him to state that he picks the fights and not the other way round, as defending a belt is how fighters have proved their worth and gives up & coming boxers an opportunity to pit themselves against the beltholder. Mayweather though says he's above the sanctioning bodies - who are as corrupt as they get - but him doing is detrimental to the sport as there's nothing ever concrete to work for. You could be a champion and have defended it several times, you STILL havn't earned the right to fight Floyd because he doesn't play that way. It's how he got his shots. It's how he fought Hernandez/Castillo/Coralles/Hatton etc. Shouldn't he give back to the sport this way?

I mean I'm saying all these things and there is an element that no matter what will defend Mayweather & Pacquiao till kingdom come. That's their perogative. I'm asking the question is Mayweather allowed this slack and if so, why?

I also agree with the fact that it is the way Floyd beats them. An one sided affair from start to finish and most fans can't comprehend the skill level it takes to do that.

PAC gets touched up more than Floyd in his fights and looks beatable, so therefore most fans give Floyd the advantage if they ever fight.

As far as defending belts, he feels as if he is above that due to money generated in his fights, attendence by stars, and the fact that he considers himself a self made man, therefore in his eyes belts no longer define him.

There have been many champions but only one fmj.
I honestly feel PAC can do the same if he chooses, but he doesn't.

If SRL or Duran have Gayweather's resume, would their status be viewed same way today?

    I doubt it!!!!!

People would say that Duran or SRL went like hot knife through a very very soft, almost molten butter.

    Yes.

Name one other top level fight where the purse was 50/50?

Right. You can't. Why? It doesn't happen. No way in hell a guy who got schooled by JMM gets 50% against FMJ. No way.

Probably, if you add all the boxing fights that you watch and add 1000 more, that is the number of boxing matches I actually watch. And I watch occassionally.

You are just a teenager. Go dig youtube and pretend to be anexpert like most *****s here.

    Is this a joke?

Fights are one sided due to his skill. Guys who he beats go on to compete again. There is NEVER a thought of them coming back for another try like some other fighters. The few who looked OK? Got rematched and dispatched.

He should pick the fights. Look at the horrible fights that the sanctioning bodies have been picking? JMM, P4P top 5. Mosley, champion. Ortiz, champion. Cotto, champion. He picks the best out there. It is not worth his time or money to fight "contenders". Especially when the sanctioning bodies aren't stepping up to make Pac be reasonable.

Where do you see slacking? Every guy FMJ has fought has been coming off great wins. Pac? Not so much. What you are seeing is the horrible double standard that is allowed in the media.
