In Floyd's mind he is greater than he is. He thinks he is a Sugar Ray Leonard level who fought Benitez,Hearns,Duran and Hagler. When he is not close to anything of that level. The difference is a guy like Leonard would have wanted to fight Pacman to prove he could beat him, and he would have the confidence that he would beat him. You don't get in the ring with Duran, Hearns and Hagler without having guts.

stupid thread starter doesn't realize floyd is the king of boxing and pacquiao is below him. Once you understand that everything suddenly makes sense.

no one is bigger than the sport.
Floyd's abilities are superlative but he needs to get his head out his ass.

OK so you become a fan because of him thats good :good

What do you mean he is claiming something that no one can claim? Ali said "I'm The Greatest" Mayweather says he's the best to ever do it (or whatever saying he has invented) I don't see an issue with it personally?

People should take what he says with a pinch of salt, so he says he is the best to do it, so what!, ask yourself does he really believe that? Maybe.....or is he using that to sell himself and raise his stock? Maybe....and look its working cos you are talking about him.

What do you mean he picks fights and not the other way round? He is supposed to let his opponents pick his fights? :huh

Everyone wants to fight him, he cant fight them all he HAS to pick his opponents with the exception of Pacquiao his selection has been great....who is missing from his resume......Khan? Bradley? At 147 there are ONLY two people dominating Floyd and Manny. No one else comes close so in my mind the only fight he can be criticised for not making is that one.

Ofcourse there is something to work for, if you are at 147/154 and you put in good performances he will fight you, we have seen this with Victor Ortiz....There are reports that he has agreed to face Canelo too....

I don't for one second think Floyd is the saviour of boxing, but he is not as bad as many people make out

He was'nt that keen on facing Hearns as he said too Hearns at after fight Larry Bonds presser i think? I'll fight you once you've beaten someone of the stature of a Roberto Duran. But Ray did step up & overwhelmed Hearns as we know & SILENCED all the doubters including ME:deal

Least he forget he ducked hagler for 5 years until Marv slowed down but thats balanced out by the fact that he'd been outer the ring & had only that one fight with kevin howard in 5 years so that took mega guts to walk back into the lions den at 160. Sorry MAG just could'nt resist a little bit of nit picking:lol:

But you are correct in that Leonard would never ever do what mayweather has done by blatently ducking such a percieved dangerous opponant especially one that is globally rated higher than him. SRL would'nt sleep a wink whilst conspiring a stratergy too steal the other mans glory away from him & in the RING, not on twitter:deal

One can't be a fan of the sport unless they appreciate the execution of it by it's finest athletes ;) . He may have been born with natural ability and amazing potential, but it's seeing it through with dedication that's got him where he is. Only a fool would hate on that.

It was continuing my point from the previous post - that one can talk how good he is all day, if theres not much action to back it up then it's going to be frowned on. Theres a select elite in the past who have faced all comers bar none, and proved over and over their ability. You would expect Floyd to do the same wouldn't you? If he says over and over and over again he'll beat Pacquiao (in which I make him favourite) why not step up and secure his legacy? He's a prizefighter, the prize doesn't get any bigger - monetary & acclaim wise.

I'm not saying that - What I mean is he's put himself in a position that he dictates opponent/promottion/finances etc and again, kudos to him. But unless he's willing to give the fans what they want it's at their expense (can take Oscar as an example of someone in the same positiion but much respected due to the fights he made).

In the interview I saw, he's saying stuff like "My health comes first"/"I want to make me happy"/"I can retire without Pacquiao" etc. As a Floyd fan I want him to fight the best and shut the anti-Mayweather brigade up. Don't other Floyd fans want the same? Any dissenting voice is immediately put as a ******* or hater etc. which is frustrating because the criticism is valid.
