Still no announcement as to TV with just over a week to go. This would leave TV very little time to promote.

Has he played hardball over the fee and is now getting his fingers burnt. Setanta would hardly choose a German show over this in normal circumstances, and Sky clashes with Football first. ITV have their own show, and the BBC would not do another Audley

maybe franks decided to build up the olympians slowly out of the public view....

    yeah right... :nut

but yes, i reckon he's arsing around a bit. he probably wants one of the networks to commit to showing all of the olympians first x fights for lots of money rather than selling this as a one off show.

i reckon its part of the reason why cotto vs jennings hasnt found a home yet. whereever the olympains go, cotto and jennings will go to

what difference does football first make? warren has no problems putting khan on a saturday night on box office.

would the olympians get more viewers on normal sky than khan on box office. quite possibly i think. should be alot of casual fans interested in the olympians although its leaving it very late to build up promotion and advertising for tv at this stage.

i wonder if warren is trying to get a deal for the olympians on their own (like he had with khan on itv) but the networks want more than the olympians. warren walked out of his old setanta contract. his contract situation seems very messy. the cotto jennings fight could be a casualty of the olympians deal not being sorted. i bet when sky signed their contract with warren they thought they would have all his fighters. seems things are not that simple. read on another forum that sky might be stoppping setanta from showing cotto fight. although its looks like sky have no interest in the fight as since they have a deal with warren they could have annonced it already if they wanted to show it.

i really dont think there will be the same intrest in the olympians as there was in Amir Khan early on. the public really took to khan, and all his fights are really action packed and exciting.

nobody is really going to be intrested in gavin and saunders thats not a boxing fan. gavin will be a big name in birmingham, thats all. saunders is a pikey, everone hates them. he looks an excellent talent but no one will care for him until he gets to championship level.

degale i really think is a top top prospect and i no people on here are hopeing so much he fails, but i think he will make a top pro. anyway, i still dont think he has the x factor that khan had. the whole khan being so young, aisan, muslim, bit like hammed, so quick and exciting, when he was interviewed after his first fight and talked about the london bombings. people really liked amir khan and i cant see degale getting the same reception. audley harrison was a heavyweight, heavyweights get hyped and followed not matter what.

basically i think frank warren has over estimated how much the general public, and therefore the tv companies care about the 3 kids.

also the fact that when he has khan it was one 4/6 round fight on a card with generally a big fight on there. all of warrens best fighters (i.e khan, cook, macceranelli) will have to be on sky, so if he wants setanta or bbc to sign up to a years contract where they only get 4 round fights, what tv company cares.

I agree - Khan was massively overhyped because in 2004 he was the only British boxer there, and that he made it to the final was even better.

On the back of Khan, 2008 saw a massive amount of boxers compete - and since we did amazingly well across every sport the public interest isn't as prevalent in the boxers this time around.

spot on the shizzle. Khan had Audley Harrison hype, whereas these 3 its more like Robin Ried and Richie Woodhall, not such a big deal

FW is trying to build this fight but the public are not buying his PR.

Have you guys seen the big billboard posters for this fight ? It looks as if FW is trying to attract the gay/homosexual brigade to boxing with those pictures of Degale, Saunders and Gavin glistening with oil.

Also what makes Gavin an Olympian, he hardly competed at the Olympics and I doubt living in the Olympic village for two days makes you an Olympian.

To be honest watching these guys face random Euro bums is not a audience pulling factor.
