Is Frazier-Ali 1 the all-round greatest heavyweight boxing performance in history?

I can't think of a better one myself. A really high quality fight between two greats, and Frazier imposes his style on the unbeaten Ali, swarms on him, lands some great shots, and tops it off with a brilliant KD.

    Best ever, or not? :bbb

It's certainly up there. Frazier fought a near perfect fight. The only downside is he lost his prime in this fight and was never really the same. Ali also took this fight far too early in his comeback.

Agreed. It was a very clear win. I really think this fight is the best heavyweight boxing ever got (me not being a fan of hw boxing at all).

No, for the best performance in history you're looking for someone performing well in every aspect and Frazier's defensive work leaves allot to be desired

If his defensive work left a lot to be desired, I must say, Ali's offensive work must have left an absolutely gargantuan amount to be desired. :think

What's the point of saying this if you don't offer an alternative?

He broke down and beat down the GOAT.

Pure beast mode, Frazier on that night.

Ali landed on him at will but didn't have the power to finish it or the stamina to maintain it, he still swept the early rounds easily

Maybe Duran-Leonard, Jones-Toney, Ali-Liston 1, Whitaker-Chavez off the top of my head or even Armstrong-Ross if you want an out and out swarmer who combined it with excellent defence

I'm not saying their better wins necessarily, there's a case for Frazier-Ali to be the best win in history but a better standard of performance overall

    1. Read the thread title, you silly bint.
    2. Ali landed on him at will?:lol::lol: He must have meant to miss all those times he didn't land. He must have wanted to waste punches. It was part of his master strategy skills. :patsch Jumping ****.

I think in terms of quality of the two fighters going into the fight the only Heavyweight fights that come close are Bowe v Holyfield and Lewis v Vitali. That is in terms of my own h2h opinion.

It's the bout of all times, quality of both proves it itself.

I'd probably rank Ali's win over Foreman as the best ever, with this as #2.
