Is Frazier-Ali 1 the all-round greatest heavyweight boxing performance in history?

I don't think there can be one bout labeled the greatest performance ever. There are simply too many variables at work. Frazier matched up very well against Ali but I don't see this best version of Joe beat the best versions of Foreman, Tyson, Lewis or Vitali.

    I think Ali-Foreman was a ever-so-slightly better win, but Frazier-Ali 1 was a better all-round performance.

Going into that fight Frazier was the smaller man, at a significant reach and height disadvantage. To win he had to constantly go into Ali's firing range to score points. Instead of focusing on the amount of punches he got caught with you should focus on the amount of punches he slipped instead.

Won't agree at #1, but definitely in top 5 of last 50 years

    Good shout.

Joe louis put in loads of elite level performances wearing his man down but none to the level of ali.

Buster v tyson was an absolutely amazing performance that is graded by how you view the tyson of 90.

Schmelling beating louis was of an exceptional high level.

Between them 3 but I think it's perfectly reasonable giving the edge in class to joe's victory.

I don't think so. Maybe the two most admirable ones for the harshness but not skillwise. I agree with Popkins.

That's great. But why are you gay, now? What purpose does this one serve? Now that I think about it, pretend I didn't ask.

Greatest heavyweight performance and greatest heavyweight fight of all time, period.

And like you Popkins, im not much of a fan of the Heavyweight division.
