No, I think Eddie Futch is. However, I think Roach's job with Pacquiao is probably the best ever. He took a limited, raw, one handed fighter and turned him into an ATG.
The top 15 goes: 1. Roach 2. George Benton/Eddie Futch/Emmanuel Steward/Dan Birmingham/Felix Trinidad Sr. 7. Teddy Atlas/Don Turner/Jack Mosley/Bouie Fisher/Enzo Calzaghe/Miguel Diaz 13. Ray Arcel 14. Charley Goldman 15. Gus Tomato Roach is 2.5 times as good as any other trainer. FACT.
**** no. It amazes me how people's memory fades when something good comes around. Eddie Futch, Ray Arcel, George Benton, D-Amato, probably Emanuel Steward, and a couple of others best him. Futch, Arcel, and Benton are the best in my opinion.
hes a great trainer...greatest? no....does he train great fighters? yes. pacquio was already a 2 time world champion or when roach started to fine tune him. i give more credit to a guy like emanuel steward who trained guys from their pro debut until the heights of world champion...especially back in the 80s and 90s when a wold championship meant something...you know when the wba didnt have a regular, interim, and super champion
In seriousness Futch trained Roach, Steward, Brooks and Benton just from the top of my head. The guy must know something.
Who the **** voted yes? I respect Roach, he has done very well with Pacquiao and has trained a host of world champions along with training young up and comers. But to be considered best, you need at least one or two more ATG fighters to be in the same breath as Futch or Arcel
