Is Froch #1 SMW if he beats Kessler?

firstly i dont think froch is going to win. but, he has had a great run. i think that if he wins this match he will have acheived way way above his skill set.

either way hes operating at thee sharp end of critical level boxing and has a career to be proud of. his attitude in taking fights and fighting away from home is something that should be really really heralded among true boxing fans and i belive this same spirit is hown in his never say die fighting style. if only all boxers had this metality we would never have to debate whether a prime lewis vs tyson or pbf vs pav.

that said i think he certainly loses to ward or direll in the usa. great ****ing fighter though.

most of the pricks on here are more fans of fighters rather than the sport. i used to follow richie woodhall when i was younger as he we used to watch local fighters. to me that was ELITE fighting.

you come on here and its like 'Pavlik exposed!' 'Hatton exposed'. if you have spent five mins watching the sprt you realise that fighters get to there level and then they will lose if everythings not perfect. the really good ones win more of these key contests.

you get fighters like froch who box outside of this zone through sheer will power, aggression and in some would say luck (please understand the context in which i mean that). what very usually happens is there is a 'regression to the mean' which means that this acheivement high is unsustainable and there is an inevitable loss.

as i say if he beats him in denmark then i take my hat off. he has had a truly exceptional career. i still think he loses to either direll or ward in the states though.

I think that you are absolutely right. I for one is looking forward to seeing Patrick Reinhard Nielsen, who is a MW prospect only 3 fights, on the undercard. And then there's this new Swedish cruiserweight who just signed for Sauerland. His fight will be exiting as well.

You're a good level headed poster. Need more of those on ESB. :good

STFU with Dirrell, run for his life vs Froch and beat an overrated 160lbs in AA he's no way the number 1, not even number 2....

    NO.

But if he fights and defeats sixty-six year old Joe Frazier and fifty-eight year old Roberto Duran after beating Kessler he will have equaled Joe Calzaghe & Sven Ottke for the title of SMWs no one really gives a **** about.

I forgot more about boxing than you will ever know. My posts are correct. Andre Dirrell may not be the #1 SMW at this exact moment but, he will be when the Super 6 concludes.

why argue with him? hes a fanboy. personally i am just pleased that in 12 months or so we will have a definate answer to this question.

sort of related to my earlier post, one of the reasons we are having so much controversy is because all of the fighters are elite and operating at a very similar high level.

this amount of controversy has been held up by some posters as a bad thing and a sign that the format doesnt work. Infact, i think it is an unavoidable consequence of competion at this level.

the differences between success and faliure are so small that individual moments become critical in seperating the winners from the looser. you dont really notice them when one side is superior because they usually win convicingly and it becomes a mute point.

you see it in other sports as well, like in f1 at the moment where every race hamilton is the best driver on the track but there is some incident that he is involved in. This bears comparison to the direll incident he was clearly leading when he was ko'd (or not???) illegally, but if i was was him i would be glad i didnt have to go into the championship rounds against aa.

let me be clear i think dirrell won and aa has only himself to blame. i also think that aa was still a live oponent, ableit one that is heavily losing.

this brings us to froch. in denmark. zero support due to the volcano. kessler with something to prove. i expect a tight close match ending with a kessler victory. the fact that froch has been performing at SUCH a high level and we have a few negative factors agianst him in this fight mean that i think that this is going to be the occasion that he 'regresses to the mean'.

I'm not a fanboy of anybody except Floyd Mayweather Jr. I'll be honest, my opinion of matters relating to Floyd Mayweather Jr. are bias. But, i'm very neutral on everyone else. Dirrell is the best 168 pound fighter in the world.

you come accross as favouring fighters based on nationality. this, in a lot of peoples eyes, renders you irrelevant. statements like that dont make a lot of sense either.

i think direll or ward is going to win this but have been watching boxing long enough to know that neither fighter has done enough to make that staement a given 100% certainty when they are in the company they are in.

not even close in fact. and i think one of the two is going to win.
