For the IBF and WBA title, thats what the poster said at the press conference ?

but Ward is the WBA super champion, but a unificatin will create another super champion :patsch

how will they deal with this mess ???

The same way the deal with having two "super champions" at 154.

    They just do...

I'm actually pretty sure that despite the unification, the WBA kept Alvarez as simply "champion" and not "super" because Floyd already was the "super champion."

Is Wlad vs Povetkin a unification bout? I say no. I say this fight isn't a unification bout, I say Alvarez vs Trout wasn't a unification bout.

Povetkin is simply unifying the WBA that Wladimir already has.

As for Alvarez/Trout, they were for two separate ABC titles (WBC/WBA).

They'll have to organize a fight for the Super Duper SMW Champion of the world. :conf

Won't be surprised if they actually do introduce a super duper belt.

Trout was the WBA regular champ. That's not a real title. If Povetkin/Klit, Froch/Kessler, and Alvarez/Trout are unification bouts, then so was Mayweather/Guerrero.

Actually, Ward would still be the only Super Champ. The Froch/Kessler winner would be called the Unified Champ. Either way it's absurd.

Just treat it as a non title fight. Ward is the champion.

No it isn't. If Froch wins, he doesn't become WBA 'super' champion. He just gets Kessler's 'regular' title.

    Ward is still champion.

the problem is that when they first made a super champ, the criteria was that you had to be unified to become one/

Now its just do what they feel like. More champs the better.

Maybe Ward won't be WBA champion any more.
Ward gave up his WBC belt and also didn't want the so called "emeritus" title.

So i guess Ward will also lose his WBA-title like other "WBA super-champions" earlier.

    Examples?
Dariusz Michalczewski lost the WBA-super-champion-title that he took from Virgil Hill. The IBF stripped Michalczewski for their belt because he wasn't able to defend the title in time (Henry Maske and Virgil Hill didn't fought a mandatory defense for a while). Then the WBA also stripped Michalczewski because they didn't recognize the WBO as a major organization.

Antonio Tarver was stripped of the WBC-title (won against Roy Jones), because he chosed to fight Glen Johnson instead of the WBC's #1 (Paul Briggs). So the WBA also stripped Tarver of their "super-belt".

    Buuuuuuut:
The WBA also had two super-duper-champions in one weight class before (Chris John and Yuriorkis Gamboa).
To complete that mess, Jonathan Victor Barros won a theird WBA world featherweight title.
The WBA just forgot to declare an interim champion to have 4 champions in just one weight class :happy

I don't have a problem with 3-4 belts acually since it makes really intresting unification bouts. But I do however have a problem with them having like 10 belts now and some even count as being a world champion.

Like interim, regular, super and emiratus.
And then before that there is bronze, silver and diamond belts. It's getting WAY out of hand.

    Imo it should be
2 Belts and the ring magazine.
Then there should be North american, european and so on. It shouldn't be THAT hard to create that..

No because Ward has the real claim to the WBA, I dont consider interim or regular belts a unification fight
