After his victories over Abraham, Dirrell(I thought Dirrell won) and a very close loss to Kessler, can he be rated higher than Calzaghe?

Ridiculous. Really. Knee-jerk stupidity. And I'm not even a Calzaghe fan.

Now he is. All-time, not even close. Joe was one of the top five fighters of his generation.

Joe defended his title 20 times over a twelve year period ended his career 46andO...

Froch has a way to go before he equals Joe.

no he's not. but lets not take anything aaway from him. Last night was an increeible performance.
he's figting tougher competition than calzaghe.

His last fights have been: jean pascal, taylor, dirrell, kessler, and abraham.

You could aruge that's the toughest morst diverse last 5 fights of any active boxer.

Then throw in his next 2 fights, Johnson and Ward.

That's a sick resume. Props to froch, he gets alot of stick, but the guy can definetly fight.

I hate slappy joe, but head to head a prime JC would humiliate Froch.

Oddly, Froch will end up with a far better resume'.

It depends on how you rate fighters. Do you rate them based on what you think would happen in fantasy matchup H2H that will never happen, or do you go with resume and achivements?

No. If he beats Glen Johnson and Andre Ward convincingly though....................then I would say yes based on quality of opposition even though Joe Calzaghe was clearly a better fighter.

Carl Froch has balls that Joe Calzaghe can only dream of (and probably does) :D

Hard to say. I'm a big admirer of JC but Carl isnt too far off his status at the moment! If Froch wins the super 6 I would put him ahead of Joe achievement wise. Which is Calzaghes own fault really.

H2H Calzaghe would beat him in my opinion.

Froch has not even close to the natural ability of Calzaghe, yet a far greater willingness to test himself against top fighters consistently. I mean, if he beats Johnson & Ward he unquestionably has a record of considerably more quality. Funny how things can pan out...

no, I hate that Triangle theory bull**** but the fact Kessler is Froch's only loss and a comfortable UD on Calzaghe still holds weight at this point.

this is a question better answered when the story's finished.

The funny thing is back when Jermain Taylor made the "Carl who" comment, Froch was going crazy calling people out; Calzaghe, Kessler, Pavlik, Taylor, **** me, he was calling out anybody with a name. The consensus opinion on ESB at that time was that all the guys Froch was calling out would beat the living **** out of him. Guess we were a little off with that one!
