That is such a myth...the way people remember the Taylor fight is a joke...Press Row had it even, even Froch 1 point up going into the 12th. Bernstein had it I THINK 1 point for Taylor going into the 12th, max 2 IIRC. Basically...Froch won an even share of the rounds, which means he wasn't 'dominated' his strengths are later on in fights (like against Ward, even though he clearly lost), and he used those strengths to break Taylor down. EVEN IF Taylor hadn't been knocked out, and Froch had just scored the KD, the cards of MOST people would have been even, or 1 point for Froch. This is not a domination, but a fight in 2 halves. I remember a few people screaming that Taylor fought stupidly and should have 'taken a knee' in the last 14 seconds...well, that would have been a 10-7 round for Froch then...and the fact he didn't take a knee shows he was being beaten senseless in the last minute. A knockout is a knockout, regardless of when it comes, and the ref did the right thing, Taylor didn't know where he was, or how long was left in the round, and he couldn't defend himself. Another 14 seconds of being repeatedly punched in the head by someone intent on decapitating him would not exactly have done him the world of good. And people who say he gassed...go and watch the fight. Count how many times he get flushly punched in the head (including the early rounds, by the way) and then wonder whether you would 'run out of gas' as well...he was broken down systematically across 12 rounds until he couldn't take any more punishment. A clear victory that revionists like to use to discredit the win. Not that it's an 'excuse' either, but that was Froch's first defence of his title, and one that he had to fight in America because it was the only way of getting a decent opponent while he was with fat Mick...no one in the states knew who he was, and everyone was rooting for Taylor. A few early nerves were understandable..
