YES. But Fury is picking a blown up cruiser weight who is age 39. He would have been better off picking Manuel Charr, who defeated Seferi for the vacant WBA title. Don't ask me how Charr and Seferi fought for this belt!
Oh he'd be right up there with Marvin Hart, Tommy Burns and Jess Willard, without a shadow of a doubt. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lineal_boxing_world_champions
Its a tune up fight. Smart by Tyson not to jump into the wolves right away.. hes been out for a while, was incredibly out of shape and battled addiction and mental health.. As for the title I believe it is.
I get that the quality of big Tyson's upcoming opponent is nothing to write home about: Seferi has clearly been selected to ease Fury back into activity. However, my way way of looking at it is at least Fury actually has a date and an opponent set in stone for an upcoming fight, as opposed to merely talking about who he'll fight or what he'll do whilst being sat on the sidelines and having nothing announced or scheduled moving forward. Does anyone know how frequently Tyson Fury will be looking to fight?
This is part 1 of 3 fights in the next 9-12 months. Following this fish eyes expects to put him with an elite HW such as Wilder or AJ.
This fight is showing the lineal title afficiandos the STUPIDITY of their position. Their "man who beat the man" idea is an unrealistic smokescreen.
No problem with that but to think only last week he made a vid saying he’d never fight Bellew as he’s too small and now picks someone too small is very odd,why not pick a heavyweight?
Fury is still the lineal champion, so yes. Lineal isn't as big a deal as boxing fans think. Larry Holmes became lineal champion when he beat an ancient Ali who had Parkinson's.
