Fair point, but there's no doubting Holmes established his lineal claim to the heavyweight championship when he beat Ali (the previous lineal champion). Ali was lineal champ and the man. Holmes beat Ali in the ring to confirm his lineal status and become the man (which he was widely recognised as already being). Spinks beat Holmes to become the man. Tyson beat Spinks to become the man. That's heavyweight championship title lineage. You can't get it much more straight-forward than that. Just like in the past with all those names mentioned, the winner of Joshua v Wilder would do well to make it a priority to face Fury and claim the lineal championship. It's a fight the winner should take for their own historical significance.
More importantly this fight will result in Albania taking their much overdue seat at the top of HW boxing.
Irrelevant argument bringing in 147. This shows the dangerously accessible limit to your understanding. The Lineal Champion is a legit concept. You said it wasn't. You were wrong. Fury is the Lineal Champion. You claimed he wasn't. You were wrong. You are a brainwashed idiot. You think you aren't. You are wrong. Fury was mentally ill when he retired. I refuse to hold a man to his words and actions from a period of extreme mental illness. If you are intent on doing so you clearly hate this man and have no other agenda beyond denigrating him at all costs. Klitschko was not a champion. Parker was a paper champion with one extremely poor defence and a robbery on his record. Put your seething hatred aside for one second and allow yourself to see AJ is a 3 time paper champion and The Furious One is the man who beat the man. Everything will be much clearer if you wipe fat poof Eddie Hearn's sheet from out of your eyes.
The "lineal belt" is worth less than any of the ABC paper belts. Why? Because you don't even have to defend it. Fury could simply fight Seferi, win this joke of a fight. Then never fight again and claim he's the rightful lineal champion for the next 50 years. And you will have idiotic lineal title aficionados claim that Fury is the only rightful lineal champion, even if he's 65 years old in 2060 and weighs 400 lbs. Because he is unbeaten in the ring and never retired! Yes, that's how dumb the logic is!
No not by the definition of the dumbass lineal title clowns. Their rule is "A belt can only be lost in the ring or if a fighter retires". If a fighter refuses to retire then he cannot lose the belt. Period. That's how dumb the concept of the hardcore lineal title fanatics is. Tyson Fury was retired and didn't fight in 2.5 years. He publicly - not once but mulitple times - explained how he enjoys his retirement and never plans to fight again. If one has any modicum of intelligence at the very least one would consider the lineal title vacant. Until the #1 fighter and #2 fighter of the division (Widely considered to be AJ and Wilder) fight and establish a new lineage.
@Chuck Norris, I quote from the Ring website: "... The bout was scheduled for 15 rounds, probably in recognition of Ali’s status as lineal heavyweight champion." https://www.ringtv.com/181567-ali-quarry-remembered/
Actually, I've just found a list of all lineal boxing world champions: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_lineal_boxing_world_champions#Heavyweight
Well he DID retire: http://digitalspyuk.cdnds.net/16/40/480x285/gallery-1475498643-tyson-fury-tweet.jpg -- He also ducked the legitimate #2 fighter (Wlad Klitschko) twice for a rematch. And he didn't fight in 2.5 years. So for anyone taking this linear belt non-sense seriously the lineal title is currently vacant.
