Prime Derek Chisora who had just beaten Helenius, and Steve Cunningham who beat Marco Huck who beat undefeated Povetkin. Those two wins are worth the n.1 spot.

he has some decent names on his resume: Johnson, Chisora (2x) and Cunningham, not that much better than many other contenders, but not nearly as bad as Wilder's scalps

    No.

But the rankings system is rubbish.
Probably a bunch of contenders should be ranked equal, as a group, and they should be forced to fight one another to sort out the order and establish a #1.

Instead we've just got a bunch of guys who've all done very little, waiting for their turn to come around.

    WTF Britturdlogic is this???

Chisora was still a prospect then...

Cunningham / Huck was at CW, has nothing to do with Fury at HW

"Huck who beat undefeated Povetkin"??:nut Umm, no.....

This must be the most idiotic post of the day.

He also ducked David Price, who was KO'd twice by Tony Thompson, who was KO'd twice by Wlad. Then he ducked Pulev, who brutally KO'd by Wlad.

Fury's rise to the mando spot is almost as carefully orchestrated as Wilders was.

Exactly. Fury is the best challenger other than those two.

I think he earned his shot. Can't complain about him being mandatory.

He's earned his shot. First time I've seen suggestions that he hasn't.

Nobody else out there am sure 2016 brings Parker and Joshua to the top table but not many others most have had their chances and blown it, Fury brings entertainment and undefeated record I for one hope he pulls it off!!

In this case I just think the Boxing Organization in charge ranks Fury as their #1 for a substantial sanction fee of the fighters purses.Easy money as Klit-Fury will draw a packed 30,000 into the stadium and the purses for both fighters will be huge.At a 5% sanctioning fee this keeps the organization well stocked with food and booze for the executives.
