Another event that possibly added to the causes of his frustration is his losing of both WBA and IBF title in the same time, despite of winning the last title match against a considerably easy opponent, Jorge Solis. First, he lost the IBF title due to missing his secondary weigh-in (of IBF rules). Later the WBA stripped his title due to he is no longer a 'unified champion'. How is that possible ? Well, it's because at that time WBA had three different featherweight champions : Chris John (super), Gamboa (unified) and Barros (regular). Since there is no way WBA upgrade or downgrade him, they stripped him instead. As result, Chris John was free of his mandatory duty against him, though actually John has prepared himself to fight him at that time.
