we usually get the screwjob up here, so Im just happy to have a night where I can watch fights on TV, instead of using sopcast because I dont feel like being ripped off. To give you an an example of the bull**** we put up with, they charged $50 for Klitschko vs. Ibragimov and 50 for Oscar vs. Forbes too.

His promoter said they were trying to get him a title shot by the end of the year.

Apparently Gamboa's schedule will be something like this:

Darling Jimenez -> Jose Rojas -> Rocky Juarez/Jorge Barrios -> Title shot :happy

425 amateur fights before that according to Gamboa himself (whether he's a reliable source is a good question).

He knows everything about boxing, also very polished. He might need to work on that low guard, but since he never kept'em high, it has become a part of his game - the opponents are coming in if they see the opening all night but leaving themselves open even more. Also, Gamboa's stamina and chin is a big Q and we don't know whether he's able to just box effectively if his opponent is not wide open for those great Gamboa shots. In fact, if you saw those Solis and JP Hernandez fights where the very entertaining shots couldn't work, neither Solis nor Hernandez was able to just box very convincingly in those fight turned out into dull fights.

But I don't see it's too soon... if he can get past Jimenez, an amateur star and once a big pro prospect (definitely a step-up in competition), he might be ready in 3-4 fights, and as frequently he fights, it means by the end of the year.

HBO.com's weigh-in photos show the same thing from a different angle. Looks like the same kind of thing Vargas or Rahman had... but on weigh-in day? :think

Will Gamboa be the first one to stop Jimenez?

I don't know... all I know is that Jimenez - might be a limited boxer compared to Gamboa or the very elite - is a powerful and very durable fighter and I might want to see Gamboa going to the distance. On the other hand, the quicker he finishes the bigger hype he makes with his own hands - and he can still spar hunderds of rounds in the gym.
