Yes, he only has 11 pro wins, but obviously he is way ahead of the learning curve with such an extensive amateur background, experience in the Olympics, and so much pure talent. At 27, he's not exactly a young prospect. Maybe one or two more fights and I think he's ready for his title shot. So... if Gamboa was offered a title shot right now, how do you think he fares against the champions of the division, Linares, Guerrero, John, and Luevano?
Yes, I think he beats everyone at 126 right now He beats everyone at 130 too, but Soto will be a toss-up fight at 135 it could be fun, Id favor Pacman,JMM,Guzman and J.Diaz over him but they would all make for exciting and fun matchups
yes he is. if somebody thinks that he can take pac out at the end of the year, why not a title shot from lesser fighters like chris john or linares? he should not waste his talents anymore.
He has flaws ...but his offensive firepower is impressive. I love when boxers clinch him and he keeps firing...or throws them off him. He's ready in my opinion. Gamboa vs. Valero is what I want to see.
He could probably take out Luevano or the IBF 130 lb champ right now-not sure about the others, though.
are we talking about 126 or 130? champs from 126 guerrero linares john luevano champs from 130 valero balloyi alex arthur:tired soto/lorenzo? by looking at the lineup of champs..of course he's ready
I don't see that as being quite that obvious. Sure he looks spectacular at times, but even tonight you saw that he still has the bad habits of keeping his hands low, his elbows out, and being overly aggressive. Combine all those thingz together and no matter how talented you are you're going to pay dearly for your mistakes. What the guy is, is obviously talented... but don't take that for granted because just like every other guy making the move from amateur to pro, he still has to refine his craft and that starts with the basics.
Possibly, but it would be a bad idea. As said he get's hit too easily, but with his offence he literally has a good chance against anyone from 126 to 135. He should go up against someone like Monty-Meza Clay or Kevin Mitchell and then fight his way through the top 10 in the year.
Maybe like a NABA title or somethin'.. He needs to at least fight some kind of gatekeeper or fringe contender.. Not fighters who barely classify as journeymen..
within 3 fights id say, just need a little more experience w/pros! but hope his camp dont trhow him in too early against beasts like it was done w/vargas.
He just knocked out a low level fighter who had 3 days to prepare for the fight, he is ready for the big time.
Yes he is ... I think its time ... stop hyping this guy and put him in there with someone who has a belt or who has won a belt before.
Just make sure you don't match him up with Edwin Valero ... because that might be the end of the Gamboa hype train.
