Just finished watching his fight with Spivac, and wow what a performance. Great footwork, movement, timing and overall IQ. He looks miles better than most strikers, and has a good argument for best striker. Would you say so, or would you give that title to someone else?
Gane is a fantastic striker but was badly found out against both Jon Jones and the pathetic Ngannou on the ground.
Hes obviously very technical and athletic for a HW but I wouldnt go as far as saying hes p4p the best striker on a pure skills level. Outstriking guys like Lewis and Tuivasa and Spivac is a bit different to being in one of the stronger weight classes and having to do it to guys like Volk, Max, Yair, Sandhagen, Yan, O'Malley, Chito, Fiziev, Gaethje etc etc. Theres two dangerous HW strikers he hasnt faced yet too in Pavlovich and Aspinall.
Aspinal`s got the fastest hands that I`ve seen at heavyweight and has more power than Gane who is on his toes too much to generate much power.
Tom is going to be a legend in the sport. His hands actually remind me of Corrie Sanders. Maybe not quite as heavy, but the fluidity and speed of his shots is similar. Sergei Pavlovich has the heaviest hands in my opinion. And Sergei keeps getting better. He’s going to be a NIGHTMARE for anyone in the coming years. I see Sergei and Tom having a really entertaining rivalry. Entertaining in the fights. The lead ups to those fights will be respectful because both guys have class. Which is what we need more of.
Nassourdine Imavov, whom Sean Strickland defeated via unanimous decision, shows Gane's susceptibility to wrestling. If a 185-pounder can take Cyril down, it makes Jones's win appear less impressive. This content is protected
TBF. Imavov is a big ass MW. He wouldn't be undersized at LHW, and could probably fill decently as a HW. But yeah.. Gane has lots of holes in his grappling.
