I certainly see them both as ATGs. I think most everyone would.

I think almost no one would rank either in their top 50 ATG list.

The guy earlier on this thread is the first time I've heard someone say they generally think there are about 100 or more ATG's ever. Even that person said they are def not in the top 50.

It all depends what you think it takes to be an ATG and how many "ATG's" you think there are.

If you think there are 500 ATG's, then there are 500 ATG's. If you think there are 50 ATG's, then there are 50 ATG's. All opinion.

The problem with your thinking is you think barrera and morales are great fighters but not all time great fighters. Does it mean that they would not be remembered for their greatness through the test of time?

And if you will limit it to 50 boxers, the list of ATG will always change once there is a greater fighter in the future. So you're defenition is a bit flawed.

Joe Jeannette and Sam McVea are and will be remembered for their greatness through the rest of time. Nobody says they are ATG's.

There is no set definition for what it takes to be an ATG or any set number of how many ATG's there can be.

What do you mean "Oscar yes?"

Who defeated Oscar in his prime?

I never knew loses would automatically revoke one's status as a prime fighter? Flom0 logic.

I notice you responded to his comment about a loss, but not to his comment about a metal plate being needed on Barrera's skull. Kind of an important note.

So I am kind of curious: Do you considering somebody that needed to have major surgery done to their cranium as "prime?" (Barrera also had 60 professional bouts by that time as well.)

You said that barrera nor morales would not make anyone's top 50 fighters so they are not ATGs. You fixed it yourself to top 50. You said they are gteat fighters but not ATG. I only said your definition is flawed.

Btw, ESPN has barrera in its #43 for what it's worth. But that was years ago and pac was not included. So putting future great fighters would revoke their status as great or all time great fighters?

Did you even know that the metal plate was put way before the pac fight and barrera was on a 14-1 streak that included undefeated morales and hamed?

Yes, I am aware. But that still doesn't answer the question now does it. You completely avoided it, again.

Do you consider a man who has had major surgery done to his cranium, and is 60 fights into his professional boxing career, as "prime?" Most sane people would say he's already seen his best days as an athlete.

Doesn't mean he was "over the hill," but he could certainly see the other side. That's a lot of wear and tear.

Barrera had a total of 74 fights. Pacquiao was his 61st. A logical person would say that is toward the end of his career. (61/74 = 82.4% of his career completed at the end of that bout, just FYI.)

But hey, I know we don't do logic around here. We only talk crazy. :nut I'll await your illogical response.

It was a surgery to remove an abnormal vein that was genetic. The plate is for protection years before. The issue was barrera hid this fact while the doctors gave him green light.

But if you want to discredit pac because of this, barrera was on an insane run after the operation. 14-1 which includes wins over undefeated morales and undefeated hamed. The only loss was from morales himself. The operation coincidentially made barrera better after the junior jones lost.
