I also think he "let" the fight go on for as long as it did. I got the feeling he wanted to get more rounds in while still getting a "paid sparring match"

I thought he looked more vulnerable in the Rolls fight than I've ever seen him look before, but he should at his age. One big money fight left

 

His prime ended when he started fighting top fighters.

 

Shot fighters dont Ko 99% of other fighters, but he is past his prime to give his best against Canelo

 

He is past his prime but he is not shot at all. Noticeably past it, yes, but he has enough to beat some, if not most, of the elite guys in the division.

No. Heres something nobody seems to be talking about and that is he has trouble with any type of hand speed. If you have hand speed you can put some leather on GGG.

 

For those of you who are 40+ think back to when you were in your 20s. At 59, I occasionally get out and play ball with 20-year-olds. Although I see what I want to do or I see where a guy is going sometimes I can't stop him. You lose a step on D and you don't elevate the way you once could. It is the same way in boxing. The key difference in boxing is power nullifies some of those deficiencies. Personally, I would like to see GGG get out and become a promoter like Oscar has. GGG would be far better than Oscar because he is ethical.

 

Not totally shot, still shows very good skills but physically he has deteriorated massively due to age. I'd say he is close to 1/2 the fighter he was in his prime. Rolls impressed me, I think he should be showed a little more respect and recognition from fans. He took advantage of GGG's physical deteriorations.

 

The thing we all have to remember is Canelo is 9 years! 9 years younger than GGG! The first fight should have taken place when Canelo was 23 or 24 and GGG was 32 or 33. Instead, they were so afraid of him until after the Jacobs fight that they wouldn't consider it. Canelo had been a pro since 2005 but they wouldn't step into the ring with GGG until he showed clear deterioration. It's enough to make you sick.

 

True ,but to what effect ... no one has put him over & in doing so just risks putting themselves inline to be ko,d....

 

I voted YES but with a caveat.
He's definitely not prime as age is doing its damage.
But not shot. That is coming and relatively soon.
The slope is steep and the decline accelerates.
With GGG its very interesting as we never saw him fight the best opposition until he was out of his physical prime
We get to thank boxing for that as it robbed us from seeing the absolute best version of GGG vs the best opponents
If this is any indication, it took an absolute beast of a prime Canelo at 27 and 28 to draw and split decision defeat 35 and 36 year old Golovkin. I think its obvious what would have happened to canelo if he was fighting at 30 year old version of GGG.
