Golovkin can retire tomorrow, and I reckon he gets in comfortably, and I agree with it.

People in these forums tend to have strict personal standards that are far removed from the actual "standards" embraced by the IBHOF themselves!

Time and time again I hear people arguing about all types of fighters who never did enough to get in, and rarely do I agree with such positions.

In my mind Gennady deserves to get in (although I fully expect him to make his own case stronger still in the coming years). But regardless of what I or anyone else thinks is "earned" or "deserved", Gennady WILL get in.

This. If GGG goes on to become the undisputed middleweight champion and can move up and beat some of the top names at 168 its a possibility. But for now he isn't even close.

Sure he is. In fact not only is he close, he meets most of the modern day standards already.

And if becoming undisputed was a prerequisite for the IBHOF, there wouldn't be nearly as many inductees as there have been in recent years.

Nah. His resume doesn't stack up. Being the popular head of a mediocre division with lots of KO's isn't enough. He stands out today, but does he stand out in history? No. Not yet at least.

In a similar thread, I stated that Ward had not done enough to get into the HOF.

As a GGG fan, I have no doubt that he is better than many who are in there, but I don't believe he has yet done enough to merit the honour.

Like Rummy, I expect he will do so in the years ahead, but as of this point, no.

Obtaining 3 titles already and moving to obtain more, which is more than most fighters nowadays.

Already defeated 4/10 top 10 fighters in the middleweight division which is better than the resume of Kovalev (3), Ward (3), and Canelo (3) which are all big fighters today.

You're ****ing insane, how many champions have unified all the belts in the HoF? Not only that but he also has to move to 168 to beat people he already beat in the amateurs? :rofl

Highest KO rate in the history of the middleweight division

    Consider yourselves educated :hi:

lets see wh else has beaten danny geale? mundine and Darren barker are hof too then.

no its too early to give 3g the nod, but he will likely end up there if he keeps up his career trajectory. if he goes back to bum club then he wont.

You gotta be kidding man!! While you are correct in implying that the HOF standards are abysmally low and all kinds of fighters get in who in no way merit being there, Golovkin is a more absurd suggestion for induction - at this point in his career - than most I've seen made on these forums.

What exactly constitute his HOF credentials?:huh WHO exactly has he beaten that would merit this? He hasn't even been the recognized champ for more than a couple of years.

Sheesh, it's like all you have to do for somebody to think you belong in the HOF is to be popular with some group of fans these days!:patsch The HOF should be reserved for only the best of the best, the creme dela creme - not every new star that emerges on the scene, long before their actual ACCOMPLISHMENTS provide some rational justification for it!
