Actually, he did not lose the first fight. I get what you mean though it was a non-win.

For context I scored Golovkin vs Jacobs 114-113 for Golovkin and Golovkin vs Canelo I 115-113 Golovkin

I believe Golovkin won both fights and that Canelo is the better boxer compared to Jacobs.

I did have Jacobs winning more rounds than Canelo at 6 vs 5

Canelo did not go down like Jacobs did

The results themselves are very similar but Canelo is the better fighter and both fights were very good fights

they were close, not controversial, if you go over to box rec, all the people who scored the fights are relatively diehard fans of the sport and triple G won both fights on their platform

no they didn’t, he overwhelmingly won the first fight based off the media at ringside

i have never seen any articles or proof a bunch of people had it a draw for the first fight

    no, they did not

90 something percent of the press row had him winning

There was a mega thread on here about it years ago

I think you're straight up wrong about that, but if you're right, and 8 percent of the cards were drawn, that's still an unusual propensity for drawn cards. You can win 10 different ways on the cards but draw only one. 114-114, where there are no knockdowns and deductions, that's it.

Both those fights had a lot of drawn scorecards, it was almost spooky.

8 cards out of like, 100+ is unusual?

Not sure what planet you’re from.

Numbers matter. If 200 cards are compiled and there’s 10 draws, so what? If there’s 40 draws or 80 draws, your argument makes more sense.

I don’t feel like dragging that thread up but I’m sure there is a page on Google that has the press row compiled.

    Found this from Reddit

40 for GGG, 2 for Canelo, 17 Draw, average fan scorecard (1773 fans): 116-113 Golovkin

    40 out of 59, that’s 67.79%

Still, a draw was in the VAST minority. Average scorecard from 1,773 fans had GGG ahead by 3 points.

    I rest my case.

The media scorecards alot had Golovkin winning but 17 media outlets also had it a draw aswell.

The average fan scorecard is about 115-113 to Golovkin so it's not like the Lewis/Holyfield 1 draw for example where there's no possible way the fight could be a draw.

Why the decision gets more talked about is because 1 judge had already made up their mind and wasn't actually scoring the fight with the ridiculous 118-110 scorecard.

But the other 2 judges had very reasonable scorecards 115-113, 114-114.

Like I said I had Golovkin winning 115-113 and I do feel like he deserved to win in a close fight as I felt like he was the slightly more consistent performer over the 12 rounds.

But I don't think a draw is the worst result it was highly competitive but the 118-110 scorecard leaves a sour taste.

Most had the Derevyanchenko fight a 1 point fight either way it was a highly debatable fight and had some controversy as quite alot felt Derevyanchenko won.

It's not like the Usyk/Briedis fight for example that was close but virtually everyone agrees Usyk won a close fight I've never seen a single scorecard in favour of Briedis.

Yes on average more fans probably feel like Golovkin just about did enough to win the fight. But Derevyanchenko does have a strong argument to winning the fight aswell. He had the bigger rounds in the fight was landing more power punches overall and had longer periods where he looked in control more.

I think Derevyanchenko was Golovkin's closest fight other than outright losing the third Canelo fight. There's an argument to be made that Derevyanchenko won 7-6.

While I think Golovkin beat Canelo twice he technically doesn't have a win over him, so it has to be Jacobs.

It's like me saying Marquez's best win over Pac was the 3rd fight.......................he didn't get the win so I can't really say that even if I thought he did win.

Jacobs because it's the one he actually won. The judges got GGG vs Nelo 1 and GGG vs DJ spot on imo. A draw is perfect for the first fight, and a narrow decision over Jacobs was perfect too imo. I had the rematch a draw and it feels a little off that Canelo come away from GGG without a loss but he didn't, so you can't say its GGG best win.
