It's subjective, but given the comeback then i'd say he'd be hard done by not to be in the majority of lists. I have him at number 9. It's criteria though, if you give weight to those men who were the best of their era primarily then you can some above him that wouldn't be if you just went totally on resume, possibly. Actually no, i think about 9 is right. Good list above by the way.

The problem I have with rating Foreman is that aside from the big win over Joe Frazier I dont see enough on his resume or in his performances to really thrust him up into the high end of the historical ratings.
But ..... Frazier is an all-time great, and Foreman destroyed him ! So, it's hard to decide where Foreman should fit in.

I look at accomplishments (eg. number of wins over good and ranked opposition, championship wins, quality of opponents beaten etc.) and quality of the performances.
Foreman has deficiencies in both areas. It's only really the Frazier fight in 1973 that can justify a high rating. The comeback was amazing but he was lucky to be given an undeserved second chance at the championship against a champion who was a little bit lucky to be there anyway.

Of course there's no way that Dempsey or Marciano could be included in the top 10 ATG heavyweights. Archie Moore on the other hand...

Great list! Your first seven are identical to mine except that I have them in two different categories instead of a ranking.

I have Foreman between 8 and 11 alongside Frazier, Liston and Holyfield.
