refering to jimmy young versus foreman is like citing louis' loss to marciano or ali's to holmes, holmes to tyson, tyson to danny williams.who does beat foreman in your opinion.

Refering to the Jimmy Young fight is perfectly legit because Young was one of only 5 or 6 legit contenders Foreman fought in his prime.

Like I said, if Foreman had any wins over any decent slick, spoiler boxer-type boxers (similar to Jimmy Young) then we could dismiss it as an untypical and mostly meaningless performance. But truth is, Foreman fought third-raters and fourth-raters most of the time, and in both careers he looked ponderous and unable to unleash much against any half-decent fighter who walked away from him.

    Imaginary head-to-heads dont prove anything.
I could say "Ezzard Charles would box Foreman's socks off. Even Eddie Machen would outbox him!" and you can just say "Dont be crazy, he'd knock them out, too big, too strong, too powerful" ....... and it proves nothing.

I would rather talk about the ACTUAL FACTS. Like Jimmy Young, which you dont like to talk about. :D

    i still haven't seen a list of boxers who'd beat foreman,from you.
if you think foreman got in with young in the right frame of mind and that he is a lesser fighter then there is no point debating.
ezzard charles is a legend btw but not at heavy.

The list would probably be a long one, but like I explained it's MEANINGLESS.

I'm not interested in playing around with imaginary fights and bull****.

I like to rate the fighters on REAL LIFE.

Besides, whoever you are when you pick who-beats-who you are going to be wrong on some of them. Complete waste of time.

    thanks for posting the fight:)
morrisson was very mobile, and foreman kind to slow, you could really say foreman looked old^^
but in his prime he would have taken morrisson out in two rounds

So when Foreman loses embarassingly to Ali and Young (they both schooled him) it was because he was unmotivated, out of shape, having a bad corner etc? Fine, let's go with that for the sake of the argument. But then how about his wins? Frazier was in terrible shape (10 lbs overweight) and had looked lackluster even since beating Ali. Norton lost against every big puncher he faced. He actually lasted longer and did better against Foreman than against Shavers and Cooney.

You can't have it both ways. If you want to downplay his losses you also have to be honest about his wins. And then we have Lyle. A guy who was schooled by Quarry and Young, came an inch away fron KO'ing Big George.

Either way you look at it there are some serious holes in Foreman's record. The main one being that he has a total of one win against a skillful defensive boxer on a world class level. And that was a KO over glass-chinned Moorer after being thoroughly outboxed for 10 rounds.

Overall in his career he was about 50-50 against ranked opposition. It just won't do to have someone like that at number one.

Er... No, it isn't. Foreman was 27 and would win the title back 17 years later. The others were at least 10 years older than that and would go on to acccomplish jack.

Also, Holmes and Marciano are clearly greater fighters than Young.

Foreman was outboxed by Young when in his physical prime. Sure, one can raise questions about how motivated and mentally prepared he was, but it's closer along the lines of Douglas-Tyson than the examples you mentioned. Foreman was by no means a shot fighter.

i don' said that he wasn't motivated against ali, but the way he fought was very stupid, and thats why i said his corner was bad.
even if overweight frazier was the unbeaten champion who was the first to beat a prime ali. frazier was in his prime against foreman.

against lyle you are right. but again the top ten all time is about the greatest boxers not the really best boxers for me. and with his comeback, you all convinced me he is not number one, but definetly in my top 5

And Foreman was unbeaten and in his prime against Ali, who himself was 7 years past his prime. And contrary to Frazier, Foreman was well prepared and in good physical shape.

As I said, you can't downplay Foreman's losses and at the same time make a big thing out of his wins. The simple truth is that Frazier has many more excuses to make for his loss to Foreman (bad physical and mental shape, several serious medical conditions and nearing a pretty advanced age for someone with his style) than Foreman has for his loss to Ali (hostile crowd, bad gameplan).

Well, then Braddock and Walcott should be at least top 5 for you, possibly top 3. They both had amazing comebacks and achieved fantastic things.
