15 years.... damn. The last match we'll see is our own against the Grim One. And the books say that we're both gonna get reaped.

That may be true but with the exception of a couple of opponents I'd pick foremans opponents over louis opponents anyday.

Yes I thought George was being given enough chances at the titles to eventually come through with a win and I did think he had a good chance of beating Moorer. I saw Bert Cooper almost knock out Moorer in that great fight they had one year. Moorer did not have a great chin and he was fighting the hardest punching fighter in the history of heavyweights probably. George lost to Evander and Morrison, and now was fighting Moorer who had moved up from lightheavyweight. I thought maybe he would hit Moorer and stop him early and that it was a good possibility. George was so much bigger and Moorer would have never been champ in another era at heavyweight. I honestly forget what I thought before the fight, but I know I would have thought there was no way Moorer could avoid George's punches for a long time. I was surprised that Moorer was controlling him in the middle of the ring. I did not think Moorer would hurt George -no, but maybe swell him up. George's second comeback came in the era of multiple champions. Yeah he stepped back in the ring 10 years later when he outweighed most of his opponents by 20 pounds. He was 38 on his comeback. That is not really too old for a heavyweight. For another division it is. For heavyweights an older fighter is not as much of a disadvantage because of the slow pace and lazyness of the fighters who have not as much discipline. He was in his early 40s when he fought Evander, which compared to the out of shape heavyweights was not that much of a disadvantage. I was really surprised that Morrison outboxed George in 1993. I am not saying Evander was out of shape. Probably one of the few who came in shape.

I met the "nice" George in the about year 2000.

I would not want to meet the bad-ass George in the center of the ring, hear him say:
"Now I am going to whup you like I'm your daddy" like he told Frazier, and start bouncing me off the canvas like a rubber ball.

    :)

In terms of heavyweights Dempsey is more overrated.

That had to be terribly demoralizing and humiliating for Joe Frazier who was the undefeated undesputed heavyweight champion of the world. This was the man who took apart the whole division in the late 60's. He was the man who silenced Muhammad Ali ( well, briefly. ) To get utterly anialated like that in only two rounds by a fighter who was not terribly well revered at the time must have hurt inside. I am a huge Foreman fan, but I can certainly feel for Frazier in 1973.

Lol I know this will probably get me banned already but I can tell based on this stupid thread that most of you people are white. Foreman overrated but Marciano, Dempsey and Tunney arent? Marciano beating up on 40 year old guys is impressive? Dempsey and Tunney avoiding black guys period is impressive?

If anything Foreman is the most underratd boxer in boxinig history. No matter what he does or who he beats somebody will find some way to make light of it.

    Oh dear.

I don't think i've ever known a poster arrive here quite as blindly obsessed by a single fighter as you are. Perhaps you should find a dedicated Foreman website.

Or even better, one that will help you work through your racial issues.

I have thought about it also. His first career was good but he lost to Ali and then Young and that is not the career or longevity of an all time great. The fact he came back in 1987 and had his second career is what people thought elevates him to top fighter, but then he had 3 shots at the title and his last one against weak chinned Moorer got him the title. I agree, I think his career is not top heavyweight ever. I think top 10 maybe, but not top 5.
