The correct answer is Boston Tom McMoustache. Overrated, ducked all but I've of the black fighters of his era, looks horrible on film. Yet you have done calling him the prototype to Julio Cesar Chavez. Ridiculous!

No, what's ridiculous is your claim that he looks "horrible on film."

As of yet, no film of McMustache has yet to surface!! :patsch

I've reported this to the moderators.

His fight with Benedict 'Boonswagle' Humperdinck has also been seen.

I think what is overrated is George Foreman as a boxer. He could be outboxed but what made him so devastating was his punching power. He was overwhelming. What I do not understand is how his later career gave his ATG level a big jump. He lost 2 of the 3 times he fought for titles and won against weak chinned Michael Moore. It is like Duran when he lost to Hearns,Leonard,Benitez,Hagler and yet people say beating Moore and Barkley were such great accomplishments.

    On paper, sure.

In legacy, achievements, likeability, charisma, entrepreneurship, and Foreman grills he annihilates that cream poof Liston. If you care more about what a fighter actually does and achieves, instead of his capabilities and perceived abilities than Foreman is your guy. His career and uniqueness are rather extraordinary in sport. Who knows how he ranks up in the realm of H2H greatness. What he did with what he actually had... that's greatness.

In his first career Foreman was a super talent but was flattered by two things which ever way you look at it.

#1. Frazier made george look better than he was.

#2. Ali made norton look better than he was.

Still a great fighter - he is in my top ten, but that is the truth.

The second career was extraoridnary. He proved he had the talent to compete ...but thats it.

In truth, Old Foreman was a celebrity fighter by then. Nobody minded that he leap frogged real contenders to cherry pick opponents with belts that suited him stylistically and were 30lb or so smaller.

it amazes me how many Top 10 lists there are,
it's absolute nonsense - changing all the time where so many lesser fighters replace greater fighters - it CAN'T be done...

I understand Ratings, and "speculative" all-time placement, but this latter is just always changing inaccuracy!!!

Foreman IS Great, simple, end of, is he better than many greats before him, sure he is, and most certainly the majority after him. and so too the same can be said about Frazier & Norton.

it's better to list at least 100 of the most dominant fights per weight division over the long history of the sport, break that down into stongest periods in succession and then "TRY" and put a placement on the list.

that's about your best chance of accuracy, but even that can't be written in stone.

Among the very best HWs of all-time is the right statemant and George Foreman certainly was that!

Foreman's main assets were brute strength and freakish power. Plus a solid jaw. Having said this, there are n't many champions, before or after George's first reign, that I would start as favourite over him in a head to head scenario. Only the VERY best.

I'd almost forgotten ! Muhammad Ali commented that nobody cut the ring off on him quite as effectively as Foreman did.
